The Scottish Forestry Trust was established in 1983 and our role is to provide funds by way of grants, to support research, training and education in forestry (in its broadest sense) throughout the UK. The Trust supports projects throughout the whole of the UK provided they can demonstrate a direct benefit to improving knowledge and practise in UK forestry and woodland management. the woodland ecosystem and the processes and products derived from UK woodlands.

Objectives: 4 The organisation's purposes are: (a) The advancement of education (including through training and research) in forestry and timber technologies in the United Kingdom. (b) The advancement of science including through the promotion of research, the application of science and the results of research to aid technical efficiency in forestry and timber technologies in the United Kingdom. (c) The advancement of environmental protection and/or improvement through promotion of the conservation of rare and special woodlands.
