Forres Youth Spaces Project SCIO (known locally as The Gaff) is a community-driven, inclusive youth space for young people aged 11-16 in the Forres ASG. We provide a safe, supportive environment for members to socialise, develop life skills, engage in recreational activities, and access support outside of the school environment. We provide two weekly sessions (term-time), providing skills-building sessions and a youth café on Saturday evenings. We have attendance of 90+ members per week and 140+ members in total. The Gaff’s main aims include: the prevention and relief of poverty. advancement of education. advancement of citizenship/ community development. provision of recreational facilities. organisation of recreational activities and the relief of those in need by reason of age.

Objectives: Objects 2 The company's objects are to operate in relation to young people within the Forres Academy 'catchment area' ('the Area') to fulfil the following purposes:- (a) The prevention and relief of poverty by: 1. provision of a safe space for young people to socialise and build relationships 2. the provision of subsidised food and drink 3. the provision of transport to and from the venues utilised by the company 4. making available technical equipment that would otherwise be inaccessible to the young people such as computers and other digital/IT equipment and materials including software (b) The advancement of education by: 1. making available technical equipment that would otherwise be inaccessible to the young people such as computers and other digital/IT kit 2. the offering of guidance and counselling by experienced youth workers in matters of academic achievement and further education opportunities 3. the offering and organisation of youth work activities, skills workshops, both on and off site. (c) The advancement of citizenship or community development, including the development of civic responsibility and volunteering ethos among the young people by: 1. the offering of guidance and counselling by experienced youth workers 2. the development of relationships of trust and aspiration by the example of the volunteer personnel working within the organisation 3. the assistance of experienced youth workers in identifying and facilitating volunteering opportunities both within the organisation and in local community activities and projects 4. helping the young people to become recognised and valued contributors to the many existing volunteer organisations within the Area. (d) The provision of recreational facilities and/or the organisation of recreational activities by: 1. making available sports, games, and other recreational activities and equipment 2. the organisation of away days, excursions and group activities. (e) The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship, or other disadvantage by: 1. provision of a safe space for young people to socialise and build relationships 2. the provision of subsidised food and drink 3. the provision of transport to and from the venues utilised by the company 4. ensuring the inclusion of less able young people by emphasis on accessibility of venues and activities. (f) The pursuit of any other purpose that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to the preceding purposes. 3 The company's objects are restricted to those set out in article 2 (but subject to article 4). 4 The company may (subject to first obtaining the consent of OSCR) add to, remove or alter the statement of the company's objects in article 2. on any occasion when it does so, it must give notice to the registrar of companies (Companies House) and the amendment will not be effective until that notice is registered on the register of companies.
