in need by reason of ill-health relating to addictive eating
patterns; (c) advancement of health by assisting addictive
eaters to achieve sobriety and to stay sober, enabling them to
overcome destructive behaviours around food.
AEA SCIO support the AEA UK phone help line, newcomer
email response service and UK version of the AEA website,
support public information events, support the printing and
distribution of AEA literature and reach out and respond to
enquiries from the media, healthcare professionals and other
organisations.

Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of AEA currently has two online meetings and one face to face the charity during the financial period meeting each week to help people recover from eating disorders. Online meetings are attended by 20-25 people per meeting. During the Annual Report period, AEA responded to 126 email and telephone enquires from people seeking help with their eating behaviours. 86 newcomers attended online and face to face meeting of AEA in the UK. AEA participated in 6 health and wellbeing events throughout the year, in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. In April 2024 the Glasgow Herald published a double page feature on AEA’s work in Scotland. In May 2024 AEA held a workshop in Glasgow that was attended by 29 individuals. New AEA literature has been printed and is regularly distributed to health care providers.

Financial review

Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves AEA SCIO’s Reserve Policy states that the charity should maintain the amount of £1,000.00 in reserve. Details of any deficit AEA SCIO is not in any deficit. Donated facilities and services (if any)

responsibilities of
trustees and examiner		 The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance
with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the
Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees
consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations
does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section
44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent
examiner’s statement		 My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts
Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the
charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes
consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks
explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken
do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do
