ARCH 2025
The Trustees present their aceounls for the period ended 29 March 2025.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the tenns of the Charities and Trustee
Investment (Scotlandl 2QK15 Act and the Charities AC￿￿ntS Regulations 2006 las amended).
Objectlves and actlviti
The objective of the Organisation is to provide activities lo commvnities in Scotland that support
mental heaEth and wellbeing.
Activities and Achievements
Keep The Heid Mental Health Cafés provide safe. sligma-free spaces for individuals to talk
openly about mental health. Sessions are free, infomial, and open to anyone aged 16+ ￿th no
need for referral or diagnosis. Each session is co-fa¢ililated by a mental health professional and
a peer volunteer with lived experience.
We have been operating in East Lothian since 2021, governed by a Management Committee.
We then registered as a SCIO with OSCR in January 2024 with a voluntary Board of Trustees
chaired by lain Gray. Our Founder delivers admini8trab.ve and fundraising support reporting to
the Board on a freelance basis.
The Cafe Grew {our team of facilitators and volunteers) are given access to free Mental Heallh
Fitst Aid and ASIST Suicide Intervention Tralning. Facilitators also have a¢￿$S to quarterly
professional supeNsion. The Cafe Crew also come together quartedy as a group to discuss
training and personal development needs, as wèll as developmenl opportunities for our servite.
Factlitalors are paid as sessional workers on a freelan￿ basis.
In the period ending 29 March 2025, we continued dèlivering weekly, faolitaled peer support
sessions in three East Lolhian locations, operating 46 weeks per year. Over 100 indlviduals
have now directly benefited from the service.
An independent qualitative evaluation of the Tranent group, Carried out by Janet Biggar
Evaluation in May 2024, confimied sustsined positive impacts for attendees as per previous
reports of the Haddington and North Berwick sessions. Participants describe the seNice as a
vital support, offering both connection and earty intervention. Our peer-led model compléments
statulory and NHS servic£s, providing an accessible, understanding environment.
We have a good evidence base of qualitative feedback and case studies. In the period 2025126
we will examine the demo9raphics of our users (gender, socio-economic slalLTrS, disability age,
disability status ètc.) and to track evidence of people moving on to other provision.
