Our charity is dedicated to marine conservation through the creation of a lobster hatchery in the East Neuk of Fife. We aim to boost local lobster populations by raising lobster larvae in a safe, controlled environment and releasing as many healthy juveniles as possible back into the wild. This helps sustain the marine ecosystem and supports the long-term viability of local fisheries. We work closely with fishermen, volunteers, and the community to collect berried hens, educate the public, and promote stewardship of our coastal waters.
Objectives: Advance education by carrying out activities that will enhance or support better understanding for the public regarding lobsters, their life cycle, and the environment they live in, by providing educational resources and opportunities to observe lobsters at each stage of their life cycle also create links with educational institutions and local community groups to adopt good citizenship of the marine environment. Advance the fishing heritage of the East Neuk of Fife and the Firth of Forth by increasing the public knowledge of the history and culture of the local fishing community families their methods and traditions. Advance community development and involvement by providing opportunities for members of the public from all age groups within the community to volunteer and assist in fundraising and running the hatchery. Advance marine conservation, environmental protection, and sustainability in the East Neuk of Fife and Firth of Forth by encouraging sustainable fishing of lobsters, but not barring other marine life. By enabling the hatching, rearing, and cultivation of lobster eggs through larval growth to juvenile stages and releasing them, by providing a focal point for assessing and monitoring the relative strength of the Firth of Forth as a fishery by providing a base for such activities.
