## Activities

**Purposes:** 'the advancement of health'

**What the charity does:** Blue Light Minds is a charity dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of Emergency Service workers across Scotland. We provide access to free, trauma-focused therapies, including TF-CBT and EMDR, for those affected by distressing or traumatic incidents experienced at work. Our service is designed to be fast, confidential, and tailored to the unique pressures faced by those in the Emergency Services. In addition to direct clinical support, we promote resilience and early intervention through education, training, and awareness. We work with partner organisations and clinicians to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care, while also advocating for better mental health support within the Emergency Services.

**Beneficiaries:** 'People with disabilities or health problems'

**Objectives:** 4 The organisation's purposes are: a) To reduce the high number of emergency service staff suffering from poor mental health particularly Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This will be achieved by providing completely free and confidential psychological / mental health support to ALL emergency service staff. The types of support that will be provided range from: Trauma risk management (TRiM) assessments, Trauma focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) & Flash Therapy. b) To normalise seeking help after attending a traumatic or potentially traumatic case/call. c) To provide continuous free and easily accessible mental health support to all Paramedic Science University students. There will be a particular focus on students under the age of 30 as this age group is particularly vulnerable to psychological damage.
