**What the charity does:** The objectives of the Association is to organise, promote and stimulate an interest in the playing of the music of the bagpipe and side, tenor and bass drum (both as solo instruments and within the context of a juvenile Pipe Band) among young people residing within or connected with the Oban and Lorn area. The Association aims to provide and widen training to young people within Oban and Lorn interested in the bagpipe and the side, tenor and bass drum. to develop awareness, knowledge and understanding in these instruments and to encourage skills, talents, participation and career development of such young people. to provide and fund the tuition and teaching of such young people in the process of developing their musical ability and aptitude.

**Objectives:** The objectives of the Association shall be: a)  to organise promote and stimulate an interest in the playing of the music of the bagpipe (both as solo instrument and within the context of a juvenile Pipe Band) among young people residing within or connected with the Oban and Lorn area. b)  to orgnaise, promote and stimulate an interest in the playing of the side, tenor and bass drum (not only as a solo instrument but also in the context of a juvenile Drum Corps and of a juvenile Pipe Band) among young people residing within or connected with the Oban and Lorn area. c)  to provide and widen training to young people within Oban and Lorn interested in the bagpipe and the side, tenor and bass drum. to develop awareness, knowledge and understanding in these instruments and to encourage skills, talents, participation and career development of such young people. to provide and fund the tuition and teaching of such young people in the process of developing their musical ability and aptitude. to encourage members to attain Institute of Piping and / or Scottish Qualification Authority (or equivalent) certification. d)  to seek support and be supported by (i) Argyll and Bute Council as Local Education Authority and (ii) the schools, both primary and secondary, within the Oban and Lorn area, in achieving the objects and aims of the Association e)  to promote, support and ensure the development of Oban High School&#x27;s juvenile and / or novice juvenile pipe band or bands on behalf of Oban High School. f)  to ensure that the band is made available to the communities of Oban and Lorn for ceremonial occassions, charitable functions or for the purpose of the entertainment of the public and for such other purposes as the Association, in consultation with the schools, may deem fit. g)  to enable the Band to compete at the highest possible level in recognised juvenile Pipe Band competitions, including major competitions organised under the auspices of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association.
