The charity is set up to source premises that will help the 1st Strathaven Scout Group grow as the current Scout & Guide Hall has limited capacity. The Scout Group has a huge waiting list and no shortage of trained leaders, but there is nowhere in the hall to put them. The charity does not manage the Scout Group. Its function is to secure funding from grant awarding bodies, build more suitable premises that will allow the Scout Group to create more scout sections, promote the facility as available for hire when the Scout Group is not in session, and to manage and maintain the building. We have applied for the Community Asset Transfer of ground on Lethame Road, Strathaven, but are also looking at derelict land beside an industrial estate off Station Road, Strathaven. At this stage, discussions with South Lanarkshire Council are progressing but we can't yet approach funding bodies. Our architecture is in draft form and will change depending on the final location of the building.
