STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Constitution
The charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), first registered in its current legal form on 27 September 2023. It has a single tier structure and, as such, the Trustees are members of the charity.
Appointment of Trustees
The Management Committee, which normally meets 3 times per year, are the charity’s Trustees. Membership of the Management Committee includes members from Kinmylies Church of Scotland and Kingsview Associated Presbyterian Church (APC). Trustees are elected at the Annual General Meeting which is held in February.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Charitable Purposes
To engage and support young people in increasing their understanding of the Christian faith and in putting their faith into action. We have four areas of work: schools, churches, communities, and the training and development of volunteers in youth work.
Activities
The Schools and Families Worker continues to have excellent access to the local schools, running six Scripture Union (SU) groups a week across the schools. In addition, there is regular involvement in primary classes, delivering blocks of Religious and Moral Education (RME) lessons and contributing to the RME planning in two of the primary schools. Classes from primary schools have visited the local church for activity mornings prior to Easter, Harvest and Christmas. Provision is also made in supporting friendship groups and with children needing extra support.
The weekly Monday Club which runs across the school year continues to be very popular, with over 40 primary children attending regularly and with a good number of teenage helpers. Of particular note is the response to additional adult helpers for Monday Club,

without which the club could not have run, or at least, have run with considerably fewer children. The monthly event for families “Our Space” has continued, with a small but appreciative number of families enjoying the activities and fellowship on offer.
Good numbers of local children attended SU holidays at Easter and summer, as well as primary SU weekends in May and September. A very successful Summer Club was run from 11th – 16th August, with 75 children attending, ending with a family fun morning to which many of the children and their family members came along.
Alongside the ongoing work of the Project, several new initiatives were launched, including a fortnightly Youth Alpha course for teenagers. Following successful applications to SU Scotland’s Existing Cost Funding Grant and Ministry Impact Grant in relation to Associate Worker Trusts, grants of £1,500 to support the purchase of resources and £3,000 were awarded to support the employment of a second / sessional worker. As a direct result of this extra funding, a trial four-week Lego Club was run during October/November. The club was aimed at children for whom attendance at a ‘normal’ club might prove to be too challenging, and was so successful that it is now planned to run several four to five week blocks throughout 2026, and a part-time /sessional worker will be recruited to support this.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Demand for places at the weekly Monday Club continue at a high level, with restriction on numbers due to the ongoing challenge of recruiting sufficient volunteers to assist with the running of the club.
We continue to be encouraged by the number of pupils the Schools and Families Worker is able to engage with, including the excellent numbers attending the various clubs and residential activities which are run throughout the year, as well as the continued opportunities to be involved in the wider life of the schools.

We have been encouraged by the success of the Lego Club trial and the partnership working which took place with another local charity. The funding obtained to purchase new equipment and fund a temporary post to help run the Lego Club during 2026 was also extremely encouraging.
We continue to be encouraged by the ongoing financial commitment of those regularly giving to the Project, providing financial stability both for the ongoing regular work and also for future planning. In addition, through specific, ring-fenced funding received, support has been able to be provided to a significant number of young people in order to attend an SU holiday/weekend.
FINANCE
Income
Our main source of funding is from regular giving by supporters of the Project, most of which is also Gift Aided. We also receive an annual gift from Kingsview APC Church.
In the first year of operation, the Trustees agreed that a significant gift received with a particular request regarding its use would be set aside to enable children to attend residential events who would not otherwise be able to do so. During the course of 2025, £3,639 has been used from that gift to enable young people to attend residential events. In addition, a further donation of £1,326.25 has been received for the same purpose.
Reserves Policy
Currently, the Trust’s policy is to retain 3 months’ worth of normal running costs in order to meet commitments and to cover any unexpected expenditure. Three months’ expenditure currently stands at £9,000 and reserves are significantly in excess of this at over £49,000. The Trustees will continue to monitor the ongoing financial situation.

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
The Project piloted a Lego Club for primary aged children who cannot cope with large group events. The pilot was very successful and so it has been agreed that the Lego Club will run during term times of 2026. With the successful application for funding for a member of staff to take responsibility for some of the tasks required to be carried out in the Club, and matching funding also received, it is anticipated the Lego Club will continue through to the 2026-2027 school session.
The intention is to continue to look for opportunities to develop the Project, depending on both demand and the availability of volunteer assistance.
It is hoped to develop further ways to engage with Charleston Academy.
A key focus is to encourage young people to book for 2026 SU Holidays, including providing financial support where appropriate.
A dedicated email list has been started to encourage prayer support via monthly newsletters. This has already grown and we would look to expand the distribution list as the year goes on.
