We support engineering enterprises working to address climate change so they can accelerate the development of commercial clean and green technologies. We do this to help put the world on a more sustainable path. We provide affordable, world class research and development facilities at our campus on the edge of Edinburgh. Where needed we invest in these enterprises to enable them to innovate and succeed faster. We support the development of early-stage engineers through a growing programme of training and internships. This is open to secondary and tertiary level students and employees of our resident enterprises. Around 15% of the workforce is made up of students and apprentices. The Salter Centre was founded by Professor Stephen Salter a brilliant and fearless engineer committed to training young people and encouraging low-carbon technologies that will help put the planet back on an even keel.

Objectives: The organisation's purposes are:- (a) to advance environmental protection and improvement by contributing to the reverse of global warming including by:- (i) promoting the sustainable management of natural resources. (ii) investigating, and supporting the investigation of, climate change. and (iii) promoting energy saving measures and the use of renewable energy. and (b) to advance education by supporting the training of engineers in design and practical skills especially in the field of climate change.
