## **OPA chairman’s report**

2024 – 25, proved to be another busy and productive year for Orkney Prostate Awareness.

Highlights:

- **‘Parish Cuppa’ information events.** These have taken place in several parishes. Thanks to all of the associated parish hall committees, young farmers, and a parish sports teams for their help in running, stocking and cleaning at each event. Thanks to Richard and the rest of the speakers for their time and expertise.

- **PSA test information leaflets** Continued distribution and uptake of these leaflets are raising awareness of prostate issues within Orkney and offering support and guidance to those in need. Thanks to local surgeries for continuing to support this.

- **OPA toilet cards** – Continued success of the toilet cards are making a difference and supporting members of the community. Thanks again to Kirkwall Bid and all Local participating businesses.

- **Sponsorship of Orkney RFC match balls** – In the continued effort to spread awareness OPA decided to sponsor match balls for Orkney RFC. With the hope that the logo being present in games will be a gentle reminder or prompt conversations to both players and spectators. Thanks to for the organisation of these, along with Orkney RFC for their continued support.

- **General thanks** - to everyone who has donated to the OPA over the last year.

On reflection, 2024-25 has built upon the strong foundations laid in our maiden year. The continued support of the Orkney community is still strongly felt and greatly appreciated. There continues to be steady feedback from members of the community, via word of mouth or through email about how the work of the OPA has encouraged them, or people close to them, to get checked or seek help which is fantastic to hear and which is the fundamental aim of our charity.

Looking forward towards 2025-26. We will continue to offer financial assistance to those who require it due to costs associated with prostate issues. We are hoping to continue raising awareness through continued local events and look forward to revisiting some of our more successful events such as the Mud Run, parish cuppa events and beyond.
