TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31[ST] August 2024
Activities and achievements
During this financial period we once again offered our raised beds out to local charities and organisations for the purpose of growing organic fruit and/or vegetables as a means of learning about organic gardening and the opportunity to enjoy the literal fruits of their labour, whilst integrating into and becoming a part of our inclusive community. This was unfortunately unsuccessful as were previous invites.
We purchased a flail mower for the purpose of keeping our external areas neat and to limit the encroach of weeds into the plots, also repairs had to be done to our polytunnel and a few sheds after storm Eowyn, along with plumbing repairs due to burst pipework
Financial Review
Income from this year came from a donation of £10952 from the previous unincorporated allotment assoc, plot holder fees of £1000 and a compensation payment of £140 from the bank due to loss of paperwork when opening a new account for the charity. This gave a total income of £12092 Expenditure is made up of £893 for utilities, insurance, sundries and stationary and £2621 for equipment and maintenance. This gave a total expenditure of £35140 This resulted in a cash in bank and hand of £8578. This is enough funds for the next financial year.
Future plans
This year we plan on growing inn the raised beds to supply the local community with affordable organic food they might not be able to afford usually, this will be available at open days we will have during the harvest period, we are going to install a perimeter pathway to allow easier access to maintain the exterior areas we are responsible for.
Reserves
There are no reserves at this moment. This will be discussed with other trustees.
The accounts for the year are attached and form part of this report.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES of HILLRIGG ORGANIC ALLOTMENTS
Scottish Charity Number SC052729
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31[ST] August 2024 which are set out on previous pages.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and the seeking of explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiners’ statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
have not been met; or
- 2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
