Our aim is to provide dignified access to affordable food for our community, central Dalkeith and Woodburn area of Midlothian. We have a Pantry day every Friday from 1.30 to 5pm. Free membership and for £3.50 members get 10 points to spend in the Pantry which contains ambient goods, tinned items etc, we have a fridge and a freezer offering a selection of items, which change week to week depending on what we an get, plus we give free items on top of their pantry shop such as fresh fruit and veg, period and incontinence products, pet food and bread and bakery items. We provide a welcoming safe space and give access to agencies such as Citizens Advice, Changeworks, SP Energy Networks, VOCAL who hold regular surgeries within the Pantry building offering help to members in their local area within their own community.

Objectives: The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The prevention of poverty and the relief of financial hardship by providing dignified access to affordable food to the people of Central Dalkeith and Woodburn thereby reducing the cost of living for households disadvantaged due to unemployment, low income, lone parenting, health, or social standing. 4.2 The advancement of health by improving health outcomes - particularly around the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables. The Pantry acts as a community hub improving emotional wellbeing and reducing social inclusion. 4.3 The advancement of environmental protection by reducing food waste locally. 4.4 The advancement of education by increasing access to training in food preparation and production. 4.5 The development of local food growing initiatives expanding skills in growing local foods sustainably. 4.6 The provision of access to key support such as money advice, energy advice, health, housing, employment and skills 4.7 The advancement of community development by encouraging volunteering and active citizenship.
