Trustees Annual Report
Melrose Football Club SCIO was incorporated on 10[th] May 2023 as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
Objectives
Melrose FC SCIO charitable purposes are to:

(a) To serve the community by contributing to the improvement of recreational, environmental, health and emotional opportunities to children, young people, adults and families by increasing participation in football - engendering a love of the game for all players.

(b) The advancement of community participation in sport as players, coaches, officials, volunteers and supporters regardless of age, race, religion and gender.

(c) To provide, develop, manage and promote recreational facilities and related recreational activities available to the whole community, improving the quality of life for all involved and providing opportunity.

(d) To advance the education of young people, children and adults by providing opportunity to participate in the playing and teaching of community football, developing their mental and physical capabilities and so enable them to improve their quality of life.

(e) The advancement of community development and relationships by operating a community based and run football club which makes a positive social impact in Melrose and across the whole of the Scottish Borders.
Summary of the main activities 23/24
Melrose FC in a volunteer-led, not-for-profit community football club that delivers the opportunity for junior and youth football participation from age 5-16+ for young people who live in Melrose and the surrounding area. The Club also supports the opportunity for adults to play recreational and competitive football through Melrose Adult Football.
Melrose Football Club SCIO has provided football training and match play to our junior membership through
Scottish Borders Junior Football Association. Registered player numbers have remained health at approximately 300, included approximately 100 girls.
Both our girls and boys sections have grown over this reporting period. Our 2012 boys team successfully transitioned from junior to youth football and with the addition of a new 2019 squad we now have one extra boys squad. Our girls section has continued to attract girls from around the Borders and we are now the
Melrose FC is currently maintaining 7 junior boys teams, 2 youth boys teams, 5 junior girls teams and 1 youth girls team. We are planning to set up a new G16 team in 2025 to cater for older girls.
per week and one session for women serving approximately 70 adult players.
This success is testament to our volunteer coaches and their dedication and commitment.

We have achieved planning permission and building warrant for Project POWER UP: the refurbishment and extension of our Headquarters to include two new changing rooms.

We have developed partnerships with the SFA, SBJFA and Team United with the ambition to deliver a football programme for neurodiverse children. This has included grants from Sported Scotland and the SFA to prepare for the programme. We have facilitated training session for coaches from Melrose and clubs across the Borders with Team United and SBJFA to understand the requirements of catering for neurodiverse children.

We have delivered Phase One of our new club culture encompassing player and parent surveys and a club-wide approach to coaching. The survey showed high levels of satisfaction from both player and

For 2024/25, we have instituted a coach induction programme to refresh learning for existing coaches and to instil club wide culture and coaching standards.

To meet our commitment to the community and encourage more sport for more people in Melrose, we have advertised the offerings of other sports clubs in Melrose through our newsletter including Melrose Rugby Club, Melrose Waverly Tennis Club, Melrose Cricket Club and Melrose Golf Club.

We have worked closely with Melrose Rugby Club to develop a positive and cooperative relationship to encourage the sharing of facilities, coordination of events and minimise competition over players and training venues. This includes representation on a working group developing a new approach to sports

1. Basis of accounting
These accounts have been prepared on the Receipts and Payments basis in accordance with the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended).
2. Nature and purpose of funds
Unrestricted funds are of a general nature and have no conditions attached. Unrestricted funds and may be used at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the objects of the charity.
3 Related party transactions
There were no trustee's renumeration of other benefits for the period ended 31 August 2024.

Independent Examiner's Report
for the period 10th May 2023 to 31st August 2024
I report on the accounts of the charity for the period 10th May 2023 to 31st August 2024.
Respective responsibilities of Trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
