Activities and Achievements During the reporting year. Bestway Community Development delivered a rdnge of impactful projects supporting individual& families and Communities across North L4narkshire. LAF Fund £3,984 BesaY Community Development received £3,984 from the LAF Fund to deliver three community events in Jerviston and Motherwell. These events supported local people with housing, health, employment, and poverty-retated issues. Approximately 90 people attended, with many accessing advice and support from organisab'ons such as the NHS, housing services, arKI cits.zens Advice. A food bank supported around 120 individuals. The project strengthened community connections. increased aWaneSS of local services, and improved wellbeing. Volunleers played a vitsl role in organising events, supporting food distribub"on. and signposts'ng parts'cipants to relevant services. Corra Foundatlon £10,000 Bestway Community Development received £10.000 from the Corra Foundation to support African families affected by drug use. The project aimed to redu stsgma, tsckle discriminats'on. and minimise drug-related harm within the African community. Funding supported stsff salaries. Venl hire, travel expenses, and refreshments, enabling culturally sensitive support and engagemenL
North Lanarkshirn Councll £830 The charity received £830 fn)m Noth Lanarkshire Council to deliver a Refijgee Festival Event in Motherwell. The event celebrated diversity and supported refugees to feel welcomed and valued V•ithin the community. Participants shared culture, music, dance, and personal stories while building confidence and social connections. Community organisations also attended to promote their services and strengthen local partnerships. CommunAty Fund £20,068.50 Bestway Community Development received £20,(8.50 from the Community Fund to deliver the Bridge to New Scots project. The project supported New Scots through: Financial assistance Signposting to essential services Digital inclusion aclivities Funding covered stsffing, venue hire, volunteer expenses, payroll costs, digital tools, pension contn'butions, and National Insurance. The project helped families feel more connected, supported. and confident in accessing servi. Anti-Racism Community Engagement Fund £2,045 The charity received £2,045 to delNer a community engagement The event brought together 10 participants. including New Scots. communrty leaders, activists, and residents with lived experience of racism. The aim was to infomi the development of the Anti-Racism Observatory for Scotland {AROS) and strengthen community collaboration. All funds were used in line with prqect objectives. North Lanarkshire Alcohol & Drng Partnersbip NLADP £6,240 The charty received £6,240 supported the Supportin9 African Families project, addressing drug and alcohol misuse within African communities. The project provided one-totrone support, guidance, arKI signposb.ng to specialist services. It addressed barriers such as stigma, language difficulb'es, arKI limited awareness of available support. Funding covered staff salanes enabling families to access help, reduce isolation, and build resilience.
