Aviemore Allotment Associaton Trustees Report
Progress has been slow during the year up to March 2025. Our main focus has been on securing the Lease with the Estates Department of NHS Highlands for the land at the back of the Aviemore hospital, which has been promised to AAA for the development of 20 allotments. We did considerable work on providing information for the Heads of Terms that was required by the Estates Department for submission to the NHS Asset Management team. This included substantial detailed information demonstrating local support for the allotments project. This process was finally concluded in early March 2025, and approval was given by the Board of NHS Highlands for the project.
Alongside this work, we hired a solicitor to continue the legal process with the NHS legal department - , a Director of Macleod & MacCallum. A grant of £2.000 was awarded to AAA in July 2024 for the legal costs of drawing up the draft lease.
At the same time we began work on drawing up our plans and detailed diagrams for the Planning Application for Change of Use for the land. This has to be done simultaneously to the Lease, which can only be finally signed off once we have approval for the Planning Application.
Both the Lease and the Planning Application (which was submitted in November 2025) are finally nearing completion now, we hope.
