Purpose: Dunfermline Greenspace SCIO is a community-owned, membership-based organisation established in 2023. Its purpose is to support local groups and projects in delivering the Dunfermline Greenspace 2030 strategy. Vision: To enable Dunfermline to be a welcoming, imaginative, and well-connected city with a first-class natural and cultural environment. By 2030, the strategy aims to create a happier, healthier, greener, and more equal Dunfermline, where everyone has the opportunity to engage and benefit from its work. We will strive to give everyone the opportunity to get involved and benefit from our work. This will better equip our communities to tackle the climate, nature, biodiversity and health emergencies we all face. Mission: To act as an umbrella organisation, recognising and supporting volunteer and community groups that care for Dunfermline’s environment. The strategy is rooted in the everyday efforts of local people and groups working to improve the area.

Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'

Objectives: The organisation has been formed to benefit the community of the City of Dunfermline and the organisation?s purposes are: (a) To preserve, restore and improve the environment through the provision, maintenance and/or improvement of public open space and other public amenities and other environmental and regeneration projects (but subject to appropriate safeguards to ensure that the public benefits so arising clearly outweigh any private benefit thereby conferred on private landowners). (b) To promote and protect the wellbeing and physical health of the residents of the Community and to assist in the relief of ill health and the provision of health education for such residents. (c) To provide in the interests of social welfare, facilities within the Community for recreation and other leisure time occupation available to the public at large. (d) To advance education and in particular to promote opportunities for learning for the benefit of the general public. (e) To promote training, particularly among residents of the Community, and with particular reference to skills which will assist the participants in obtaining paid employment. (f) To advance community development by encouraging, stimulating and supporting volunteering principally in the Community (g) To promote, establish, operate and/or support other projects of a charitable nature for the benefit of the residents of the Community.
