communily impact.
Although our original YMCA premises has remained clos¢ $in¢¢ 2017, we have conttnued
to ivork diligently in the background throughout 2024 to secure the funding needed to r¢stor¢
and protect the building. Our priority is to make it wind and watertight? preserving it for
future development and use as a community hub.
This year. we've focused on building strong funding applications with the guidance of
professionals from key bodies such as the Herilage Lottery Fund, and we have received
Positive teedback and Continue io serve our community in the present.
As part ol. our gr0￿h strategy, we moved from a smaller rented office into a new, larger

This move reflects our belief that strengthening our delivery today is the best way to
d¢monstrate our capacity and readiness for future investment.
Project Phoenix is progressing on tjvo key fronts:
Immediate eommunity impact: Expanding our services from our new, active
prcmises.
Future restoration: continuing efforts to secure fundkng and prepare our historic

2024 has been about laylng the groundwork. both practically and strategically. for a future
where our restored YMCA building can once again be a Cornerstone for the people of

This system brings structure. visibility, and reward to the learning that takes place through
FsP()rts and is already proving popular with our youngest players. our long-temi ambition is
to develop this into a licensee tool that Lould be used by other youth work organizalions
en&Faging in Esports across the UK and beyond.
After a successful pitch al the YMCA Europe conference in Bratiglava by Emma and ongoing
support trom Hewlelt Packard, we have secured an increased budget of £8000 10 launch the Y
Esports Project. The project includes-.
A national training resource suite for YMCA youth workers.
A pilot toun)ament and training program running July-November 2025.
Participating YMCA'S are Wishaw, Bellshill, Kilmamock, Glenrothes, Tayside, and Larne
(Northern Ireland). Each ieam will be supported to train, Compete. and take part in a live. in-

We have also joined the Circuit Project, delivered by YMCA Scotland and YouthLink. which
supports care-experienced young people to develop digital and media production skills. As
part of this, a group of young people H'ill receive specialist training to produce and live

She-Time: Empowering Women Through Practical Ski118 and connection
She•timc is a new programme launched in 2024 designed to support and empower women
by equipping them with both practical life skills and a strong sense of communily. The
programme begins with a 16-Trveek learning series, covering a wide rang¢ of essential topics

thai promote independence. well being. and confidence. Sessions include everything from
pr()active budgeting and understanding bill8, to basic home maintenance skills like wiring
a plug or fixing # drain alongside important ar¢as such as personal safety, self-care, and
awareness.
Beyond practical knowledge, She-time is also about ongoing support and connection. After
completing the core programme. participanls are invited to join a weekly women's group
that crafts as a platform for continued peer support, self-expression, and
communih, building.
The response to She-Time has been ovetwhelrningly positive. Participants have reported not
only an incrcase in skills and confidence, but also a stronger sense of belonging- somcthing
especially importani for women who may have felt isolaled or overlooked.
Through She-Time. Wishaw YMCA is helping women take control of their lives, build
friendships. and gain the confidence to face everyday challenges with practical know-how
and the support of a like-minded community.
Fun & Games
Fun and Games was launched as a limited-run progran)m¢ aimed at reducing social
isol¢2tion through simple. shared activities like jigsaws, board games, and conversation.
The goal was lo create a relaxed and welcoming environmeni for individuals who might other
wisc leel disconnected or alone. While the programme was developed with strong intentions,
engagement levels did not meet ¢xpeetations. One of the key barriers was aeeessibility-
WL had hoped to make our new premises fully accessible, but were unable to do so due to
building regulations we ¢ould not m¢¢t. Despite cxploring vartous funding options, ￿'e
'"c're ineli&Fible for support as we do not the building or hold a ten-year lease, which is a
common requirement. Rath¢r than let these resources go unused. we adapted. The gam¢s.
space. and materials were repurposed to enhance our youth summer clubs, where they were
'ell received by young people as part of wider aclivilies programme. This creative pivot
allowed us (o maximize benefit of what had already been developed. supporting a different
but equally important group in our community.
Although Fun and Games didn'l reach it's original audience as intended. the foundation is in
place. We remain hopeful that. in the future. th'e will be able to revisit the initiative on¢¢ the
right conditions are in place to support those for whom it was originally designed.
Financial Review: Our Main Street office allowed us the opportunity to grow our projects
and program delivery at such a pace, we required a new and larger premises. Ai the end of
the year, we took out a lease on a new space in Quarry Street and transferred our operation lo
these premises in March 2024. This has proved a great su¢¢ess and at th¢ tirne of ￿TitIng this
rLport have modified ihe premises to utilize the space for tncreased programmes. We are
currently reviewing options to re-locate io much larger premises to meet demand.
ThL Outrun of financeg at year end resulted in an excess after transfers in the General Account
of £1.239.62 (£3,819.26) and a credit in our Designated Funds of £8,082.30 (-£9,566.34). At

Reserves: While the Trustees would nomially aim to hold 3 munihs operating costs in
