Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of
the charity during the financial period
In the autumn of 2024 artificial insemination was carried on 14
,
reindeer cows with assistance of two expert deer veterinary
surgeons. Subsequent scanning has confirmed that 6 of the cows
were successfully inseminated. This is a great success for the charity
and augurs well for future work and collaboration in the field.
Much work was done on setting up the The Reindeer Trust website
(up and running and displaying exceptional images of reindeer since
just after the end of the financial year).
The JustGiving donate facility is operational.
A logo was developed and agreed.
In the pipeline and receiving consideration during the financial year
were two research projects which have since commenced: 1) a
project with the Royal Veterinary College on microbial resistance in
reindeer. and 2) a project with Roslin Institute concerning genetic
material via velvet antler sampling.

APPENDIX 1

Other optional information

Treasurer's report AGM 31/10/2025

The Reindeer Trust has no financial activity to report for the 2024/2025 financial year.

(The Reindeer Trust finances are on a sound footing following a generous donation from the Foyle Foundation and a few smaller donations which will be reported in the 2025/2026 accounts. This means that Trust activities can take on a new, funded dimension over and above the pro bono activities to date.)

This is in contrast to the 2024/2025 financial year which was a lean spell from a funding perspective, though rich in research activity.

The AGM meeting proposes funding for research writing and funded expert travel to a sub arctic reindeer conference “Arctic Science Summit Week” to share RT data. Further items under consideration for expenditure from the RT are Squarespace for the website, remuneration for genetic sampling of velvet and cheek cells, and website updates.

The option to donate to RT via a donate button on the website and via JustGiving is now active.

Exciting times for the charity lie ahead.

The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees’ report above.

Respective
responsibilities of
trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance
with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the
Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees
consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations
does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section
44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent
examiner’s statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts
Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the
charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes
consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks
explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken
do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do
not express an audit opinion on the viewgiven bythe accounts.
Independent examiner’s In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention [other than that
statement disclosed on the attached page*]

requirements:

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and

to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with
Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
