Objectives and Activities
Cults Tennis Club SCIO was established on 6 January 2023 to advance public participation in sport and to specifically provide facilities for and generally to promote, encourage, and facilitate the playing of tennis within the community. The charity provides and maintains the club’s premises and club-owned tennis equipment for the use of its members.
In 2025, the charity continued to engage with other charitable organisations to support the wider community through fundraising and clothing donations.

Structure, Governance, and Management
The charity is governed by its constitution, which was adopted on 6 January 2023.
The Trustees were appointed on the establishment of the charity and have served until the club’s Annual General Meeting. The Trustees were all part of the management committee of the previous Cults Lawn Tennis Club, which was dissolved upon the creation of the charity.
Zoe Mackay has been appointed as the Clubs Welfare O�icer and is a new Trustee.
At the 2025 Annual General Meeting Hilary Leigh stepped down from the Committee
Achievements and Performance
2025 was another successful year for the charity, with strong participation across all areas of the club.

Senior membership declined slightly but is still around the pre-COVID levels with adult membership at 163, and junior membership at 136.

Further improvements were made to the clubhouse, including refurbishment of the kitchen, main room and general decoration.

Fencing repairs were completed around a number of courts, improving the safety and aesthetics of the venue.

Social events were well attended, with the quiz night, midsummer BBQ, and annual community fireworks display proving particularly popular.

Junior members enjoyed a range of non-tennis social activities, including Fun Day and movie night.

Fundraising activities for Mission Christmas and Cash for Kids raised £300 together with a substantial clothing donation, demonstrating the club’s increasing commitment to supporting the wider community.

Holiday camps continued to be a great success, with all sessions fully booked.

Seven juniors assisted with coaching activities as part of their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Awards, supporting the club while working towards their personal achievements. An number of junior members are now pursing their Level 1 and level 2 coaching badges.

Junior club nights remained a highlight of the season, with over 100 juniors regularly attending.

The club continued to provide a comprehensive adult coaching program, catering to all levels, alongside drop-in improver sessions to encourage player development.

The Club Championships saw over 250 matches played across various events, showcasing the depth of talent and engagement within the club.

Both junior and senior members represented Scotland at the national level, with some attending weekly national training. Multiple members won tournaments and claimed national titles.

The Women’s team won the NESTLA league, while the Men’s team retained the Flemming Cup and secured second place in the NESTLA league a one place improvement on 2024.

Future Plans
The charity has set a strategic goal to play an increasing role in the local community by providing excellent facilities and coaching while expanding its engagement with the wider community.
This will be achieved through:

Implementing a sustainable court and facilities investment plan to allow us to continue to invest in the club to ensure a high standard for members and visitors.

Enhancing coaching programs to provide opportunities for all levels of players, from beginners to those competing at national levels.

greater participation in the club.

Increasing charitable e�orts, building on the success of fundraising initiatives, and working with local organisations to support those in need.

Exploring new ways to make tennis more accessible and inclusive, particularly for groups who may not have previously engaged with the sport.

Engaging with local businesses to encourage sponsorship of the club – two sponsors were secured in 2025 under 2 year agreements to sponsor courts at the club.
