Finance
The Jerviston Community Centre's remarkable growth and community engagement are
a direct result of the African Collaboration Group's dedication and the generous support
of various funding bodies.
The African Collaboration Group has been instrumental in the Centre's success. They
secured £3300 from the NLC Community Asset Support Fund, removing financial barriers
to acquiring public assets. North Lanarkshire Council (NLC GAP) further supported their
efforts with funding for community benefit projects.
The Robertson Trust's funding for the Centre Manager post proved transformative,
significantly improving service quality and benefiting the entire community. An Award for
All grant enabled the group to enhance community spaces and provide partial salary
support for the Centre Manager.
The Scottish Refugee Festival's grant facilitated the group's crucial work in fostering
connections and understanding between diverse backgrounds.
Beyond grants, the African Collaboration Group demonstrated strong self-re1lan￿,
generating £8990 through hall rentals for community events, celebrations, and councillor
surgeries. These initiatives directly supported over 300 residents, strengthening
community bonds and fostering a sense of belonging. The combined impact of these
diverse funding sources and the group's own initiatives has been pivotal in creating a
thriving and inclusive Jerviston Community Centre.
Unrestricted
The Robertson Trust grant has been contributory in supporting our organization by
funding the position of a full-time Centre Manager. This key role has significantly
contributed to the efficiency and growth of our centre, enabling us to better serve our
community, improve internal processes, and ensure long-term sustainability. The Centre
Manager's primary responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, enhancing
customer service, increasing staff productivity, and driving the overall growth of the ￿ntre
through effective management and strategic planning.
African Collaboration Group Contributions: Through hall rentals for community events,
lebrations, and local councillor surgeries, the African Collaboration Group has raised
additional funding. By booking out the space for initiatives such as the Citizen Advi
Bureau, they have strengthened social ties within the community while providing essential
services to residents.
The African Collaboration Group has discovered that the electricity system that is on the
Jerviston community centre build is very old and expensive most of the funding are being

used to cover the electricty bills and equipment. Hen￿ the zero emission has been a
primary option for the future.
