Our focus is to encourage social inclusion, reduce loneliness, and improve mental health by encouraging people to become more in tune with the natural world around them. Spending time in nature to improve mental health and learn to become more environmentally friendly through outdoor exercises, educational events and expeditions. Our expeditions will see us following rivers from highest source, to sea, and along the way we will explore the link between mental health and being in nature/'the great outdoors'. It is our goal to improve our participant' confidence & sense of worth, through education & challenging physical adventure along with informal counselling, within the safety of a caring team lead by former Royal Marine Commandoes. Specifically, our purposes are: (a) The advancement of health. promoting good physical and mental health through participation in adventure activities, informal talk and counselling. (b) The advancement of environmental protection or improvement. On expeditions participants will be encouraged to appreciate, protect and improve the natural environment through informal education (discussions around basic ecology and habitats), professional lessons (ecology surveys), environmental work (tree planting, litter/waste collections, etc). and assistance with scientific environmental research (gathering data under the guidance of qualified scientists) (c) The advancement of citizenship Participants will be encouraged to appreciate individual responsibility towards a better natural environment, to evaluate sustainability in adventure recreation, and to explore the link between mental health and physical outdoor adventure activities.
