## Activities

**Activities:** 'It carries out activities or services itself'

**Purposes:** 'the advancement of health','the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage'

**What the charity does:** Provide a safe place for Recoverists to meet, and access aid. We signpost to organizations that help people with drug and alcohol addictions, assisting them on their road to recovery and helping to maintain that recovery. Our primary days of opening are Wednesdays where we provide a welcoming environment with hot food (usually soups) and sandwiches, cakes etc. We offer food from Food-share and other donators plus any hot food remaining to take away. We have a number of both other charitable organizations (housing associations, Bute Advice, adult learning, home energy/warm home etc) and Govt agencies that attend on various Wednesdays and meet with the Recoverists in need. One of the big aims of our charity is the reduction of the stigma involved with addictions. We have a rough split of 40% each drug and alcohol Recoverists (although, often they have can have issues with both drugs and alcohol) with the remaining 20% what we call 'social' attendees.

**Objectives:** a) To provide a safe, welcoming and therapeutic environment that offers different models of recovery for individual affected by addiction b) To advance education by breaking down the stigma and barriers surrounding recovery and open a path for those suffering, back into the community c) To advance health by improve quality of life by offering peer support for those who need a helping hand d) To provide access to information, training and volunteer work to aid with career prospects e) To identify gaps in existing service provision and work in partnership to fill these areas with relevant organisations f) To inform and influence policy making at local and national level g) To advance education and raise awareness of the whole family dimensions of addiction and recovery and to reduce stigma
