Pickers : From March 2024 we ran acting and filmmaking workshops, and our attendees created the short comedy film ‘Pickers’ with an accompanying rap song and video, which we premiered at Howden Park Reconnect Theatre on 11[th] January 2025 to a roaring 200+ crowd. The Justice Minister for Scotland, Angela Constance, was in attendance and profusely praised the charity and the film on West Lothian News. The film currently has over 5700 views on YouTube, where we launched it online on 13[th] January 2025. The rap song is also featured on Spotify.
Most exciting is that the short film has been selected to be shown at New Lanark Film Festival and is up for awards. It has also been selected for West Lothian Film Festival and is again, up for awards.
The short film encapsulates all that we stand for. The therapeutic nature of creativity, building positive social networks, increasing confidence and self-esteem, decreasing loneliness, anxiety and other potentially harmful coping mechanisms such as substance use. Improving mental health and well-being. And making our service and providing this life-changing experience completely free, removing barriers to access.
