structure, Governance and Management
Type of Governing Document
KMYC was originally constituted as a constituted community group in April 2022 whilst working to
become a charitable organisation. KMYC gained SCIO status on 19 August 2022. KMYC is governed
by its updated Constitution dated 29 November 2023 and the Policies and Procedures Iv.71.
Trustee Recruitment and Appointment
As per the KMYC Constitution, members of the Board (Trustees) are appointed by members vote at
the AGM. Trustees stand down at each AGM but may be re-elected wtthout limitation. A Trustee can
resign before their term of office has been completed. The minimum number of Trustees is four.
statement of Trustees Responsibilities
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees report and the financial statements in
accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom
Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Charity law requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year, which give a
true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charty and of the incoming resources and application
of resources. In preparing those financial statements, the Trustees are required to:
select surtable accounting policies and then apply them consistently
observe the rnethods and principles in the Charities SORP (FRS 1021
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent
state whether applicable United Kingdom Accounting Standards have been followed, subject
to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to
presume that the charity will continue to operate.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable
accuracy at any time the financial position of the charrty and enable them to ensure that the financial
statements comply with the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotlandl Act 2005 and the Charities
Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 21X)6 (as amended). They are also responsible for safeguarding the
assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud
and other irregularities.
KMYCTrustees come from a wide range of professions bringing varied professional, youth work,
voluntary sector, finance, legal and human resources experience. We have 4 Youth Trustees aged
between 18 and 25. The Trustees do not receive remuneration for their role. The role of the Trustees
is a strategic one, with day-to-day operational decisions of the Youth Clubs delegated to the Youth
Club Leaders. The Board of Trustees form the key governance and management of the charty.
Consultation is vital to all that is done at KMYC youth clubs and youth work, extended projects. and
strategy are all undertaken with young people involved with planning and delivery.

Objectives and Activities
Charitable Purposes
a) The advancement of citi2enship and community development.
b) The provision of recreational facilities or organisation of recreational activrties, with the
object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities
are primarily intended.
cl The promotion of equalty and diversity.
Summary of maln activitles In relatlon to these objectlves
To meet these objectives, KMYC promotes the welfare and holistic development of young people by
providing recreational facilities which are open, responsive and safe to facilitate young people
growing to full maturity as individuals, positive change makers, community builders and mature
citizens via our local youth clubs.
Founded in early 2022 and gaining charity status on 19 August 2022, KMYC aims to establish local
Youth Clubs in the Kincardine and Mearns area of Aberdeenshire, which support and create
opportunities for local young people aged 10-25 years to thrive; to ensure they have somewhere to
turn to and someone to talk to, wherever and whenever, they are in need. To provide welcoming,
inclusive and safe places for local young people that are free at the point of delivery, encouraging
positive contribution by young people to the local community by empowering young people to make
good life choices and to make the most of their learning and experiences building resilience and
responsibility. The organisation supports and facilitates local sub-groups to promote best quality
youth work and opportunities for young people in Kincardine and Mearns with the offer of
education, training and governance support to build capacity of local club staff and volunteers
promoting learning as a lrfelong activity. KMYC also aim to be the local voice of youth work and
young people in the Kincardine and Mearns area of Aberdeenshire.
The Organisation respects the dignity and worth of every young person regardless of gender, race,
religion or sexual orientation, recognising each individual's differences, their growing autonomy and
the potential of every young person.

Achievements and Performance, Chairperson's Report
KMYC have had an incredible yearl
We had a fabulous time at the Stonehaven Feein, Market on Saturday 1st June 2024, where Scotland's
First Minister, John Swinney met volunteers and spoke with our Chair
on the importance
of youth clubs. Local￿￿ popped by to support us and had a shot of the darts. We
ran prize squares and our winners were delighted - £50 cash and a hand crocheted blanket went to
and￿ respectively. And visitors young and old had a great time trying their
luck to get a bullseye on the dart board.
YouthLink Scotland Natlonal Youth Work Awards 2024
On June 12 2024, a small group headed to Glasgow for the
YouthLink Awards at the Double Tree Hilton Glasgow Central for a
glitzy ceremony to celebrate youth work in Scotland having been
nominated for the Community Youth Work Award- and we only
went and won it! An incredible achievement for such a young
organisation to be recognised nationally for what we are bringing to
the young people of Kincardine & Mearns.

Inspiring Aberdeenshire 2024
To add to that, our
, youth volunteer and Trustee was
recognised by Aberdeenshire Council's Inspiring Aberdeenshire's
Future Award, winning against some stiff competition for his great
work with Kincardine & Mearns Youth Clubs, Mearns and
Auchenblae Youth Clubs, as a Member of the Scottish Youth
Parliament. What a future this young man has!
Communlty Asset Transfer
Since inception, KMYC has had the ambition to have it's own premises.
This vision has come one step closer during 2024-25 with the Lease for
long term, 30 year Lease Community Asset Transfer of the Old Sea Cadet
Hall, High Street, Stonehaven by Aberdeenshire Council being signed on
th
4 Nov 2024. The Victorian building requires some remedial works due
to its age as well as being left unoccupied for a few years. The space will
become the headquarters for the Charty as well as a base for
Stonehaven Youth Club. Planning permission and listed building consents
as well as building warrants have been applied for and should be in hand
soon into the new financial year. We are also hopeful of recerving grant
funding towards the capital works from the Place Based Investment Fund
notth'cation of the award will come in May 2025.
Inverurie 'Over 2Youth'
Young people from both our Auchenblae and Stonehaven Clubs travelled to Inverurie for this day
long extravaganza featured DJ performances, laser tag, climbing wall, and more. The young
participants relished the chance to make new friends, build relationships with peers from other clubs
KINCARDINE & MEARNS YOUTH CLUBS SCIO (SC051940) ANNUAL REPORT 2025

and explore Inverurie in a relaxed social setting. One young person said "I had a brilliant time, made
new friends and visited a new town and school."
In 2024/25 KMYC operated local Youth Clubs in Stonehaven and Auchenblae. Each club is led by
trained Volunteer Leader assisted by regular volunteers and occasional helpers. We are working
towards opening a new Youth Club in Inverbervie in the next year.
We encourage all our volunteers to carry out training around youth work and provide this to them
via Youth Scotland and other organisations. All regular volunteers are PVG checked.
This year we have been especially fortunate to apply for and receive 2 years funding for £20,000
from the National Lottery Community Fund "Awards for All" to employ youth workers for each club
and cover our rental costs. This is a huge boon for us and enables us to keep our provision free at
point of entry as well as having dedicated staff to develop our offering.

At the sessions regular activities are available to the young people to engage in such as a pool table,
table football, chess, other board games, crafting and cooking, More formal organised activities are
also on offer. During all sessions, formal or otherwise we work towards building relationships and
supporting our young people towards adulthood and positive futures.
Our guiding principles mean we approach our clubs as places where we view young people as whole
people: supporting their holistic development which realises physical, mental, emotional and social
potential by growing a community with young people which is open, accepting and safe. We try to
build relationships with them based on respect and trust, relationships which are voluntary and two-
way. Our clubs work to ensure that plans and activities are owned by young people, adapt with the
culture, and bring positive change for all involved and by embracing a culture of reflective learning
where we learn from our own experiences (and our mistakes).
As we develop to provide further services, KMYC clubs will be open to all young people without
prejudice or distinction of gender reassignment, being married or in a civil partnership, being
pregnant or on maternity leave, disability, race including colour, nationalrty, ethnic or national origin,
religion or belief, sex, sexualtty or sexual orientation. The only restrictions are of age- from 10 years
old up to 25 years of age.

stonehaven Youth Club (SYC) Report
Dawn Black, SYC Leader
SYC has a steady, regular attendance every Friday evening at Stonehaven Community
Centre. Using the ClassForKids booking system has made limiting the attendance easier
to manage, limiting the attendance to 40 young people with an average of 31>35 now
attending regularly. The booking goes live on a Wednesday morning for members to
book for that Friday evening.
We continue to provide regular activities for our young people to participate in though
many prefer to just'hang out, with friends. We are here to provide a safe space for our
young people to learn how to socialise safely and respectfully, which they all appreciate.

Our membership base as of 31st 2025 was 137 active members.
We encourage young people from the higher year groups at Mackie Academy to come along
as helpers to contribute to the volunteer hours for Saltire Awards. We have had 4 such
volunteers during the year and they have enjoyed mixing with the younger age groups and
teaching them to play chess and crafting techniques.
We are very grateful for the following grants and financial

We had the opportunity to employ a paid youth worker, thanks to the National Lottery Community
joined us in November and quickly became one of the team, helping to introduce
new activits'es and do the planning and administrative work. Unfortunately, due to changes in family
caring responsibilities, Lynne could not continue with the club and left at the end of February. We
hope to employ a new youth worker soon.

Auchenblae Youth Club (SYC) Report
Clare Taylor-Brown, AYC Leader
We opened our doors in April 2024 and AYC has become a cornerstone of the local community.
We embody the vision of youth empowerment, inclusion and community engagement.
In our first year we have offered free, vibrant opportunities for local young people, boasting 77
members with a weekly average club attendance of 30 young people. In total, the club has
delivered 33 weeks of engaging sessions where we enjoyed games and creative pursuits. We have
baked, made paper boats, loom band bracelets and badges, and played board games.
Occasionally the club goes out and about in the Village, especially down to The Den. Our
Hallowe'en Disco was a highlight with spooky costumes, energetic dancing and camaraderie!
We've also used KMYC'S Silent Disco a couple of times this year and enjoy that experience too. We
run a tuck shop and offer toast and hot chocolate which adds a simple pleasure to the welcoming
vibe of the club. Even when the weather means we cannot meet in person, we adapt to hosting
online quiz nights or Kahoot sessions meaning a snow day doesn't stop the opportunities to
connect and enjoy gaming together in a safe and fun virtual setting.
Activities were not limited to our regular Friday evening sessions! We had two trips and
participated in some community activities:

Along with young people from our sister club in Stonehaven
we went to the Over2Youth event in Inverurie
We headed to Dundee Ten Pin Bowling with Karaoke room,
escape rooms and bowling booked for some fun and
entertainment. The bus trip was great too!
During Christmas week, some AYC members delivered Christmas
cards around the village, helping us to raise £50 for club fvnds.
Our "Auchenblae's Got Talent" event was our first birthday
celebration and fundraiser on 14 March 2025. It was a joyFul
celebration of the club and a joint fundraising venture for the club
and Diabetes UK. The event showcased our youth talent in art, dance, music, comedy, poetry,
highlighting the creativity and enthusiasm of our young people. Our audience and special guests
were blown awayl Provost Judy White awarded 44 young people Volunteering Certifi'cates and
another 16 their Saltire Awards. It was a truly memorable occasion and the result of teamwork
from both our volunteers and young people.
We participated in a cultural project with
from Ceangail and had a Herrtage Society talk on
Auchenblae's history from￿. As a result we produced digital content for the My
Scotland website. Check it out at i itr.

ensures that every member feels heard. The introduction of the 'To Be Honest, (TBH) box has
provided an anonyrnous platform for young people to share feedback and ideas. Comments such as

Financial Review
KMYC is grateful to both existing and new funders for their generous grants, and to our individual
donors both financial and in goods, who have enabled our work during the period.
Grants have been received for general youth work and specific activities enabling KMYC'S Youth Clubs
to run regular open sessions. A major risk for KMYC is the possibility of failing to secure sufficient
grant funding to continue to pay rental costs but this year we have received a £20,000 award from
the National Lottery Community Awards Fund which covers our rent in both Stonehaven and
Auchenblae for two years as well as monies to employ youth workers at each club.
As a young organisation we are starting to build up an appropriate reserve and this is something we
will keep growing slowly to ensure sustainability of funding for revenue costs of operating the youth
clubs.
The Charity had a starting balance to this financial year of £6,564.
In 2024-54 KMYC has received key funding totalling £25,246 as grants from the following Funds:
National Lottery Community Award
Hillhead of Auquhirie Windfarm Fund
Architectural Heritage Fund
Coop Community Fund
We also received donations of £7,015 from the following organisations:
Stonehaven Town Partnership
Stonehaven Fireballs Association
Auchenblae Christmas Parade
Thistle Wind Partners
Ceangail CLC
In local fundraising events including the Stonehaven Feein, Market, Stonehaven Car Boot Sale,
Stonehaven Harbour Festival, Auchenblae's Got Talent Show, and renting out Silent Disco Equipment
the Charity raised £1,131.
The total received by the Charity to 31° March 2024 was £33,392.
The Charity incurred expenses for the running of the Youth Clubs and Community Asset Transfer
costs of £21,083.
This results in a surplus of £12,309 for the 2024-25 financial year.
KMYCthus has a net bank balance of £18,873 on 31° March 2025.
Declaration
The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees Report above.
