The charity was founded as a consequence of a gap in services and support offered to fathers in East Lothian – particularly meeting the emotional physical and practical needs of fathers, in particular in the perinatal period. There are many services offered by DadsWork SCIO such as counselling, ante natal programmes, school holiday activities, community gardens, support with seeking employment and moving into further education, the Musselburgh Men’s Shed project and 1-2-1 support services.

Objectives: 4 The organisation’s purposes are: To advance the education and promote the health of fathers in East Lothian and in furtherance thereof the group shall seek to: 4.1 Provide a drop in facility where fathers and children can develop and play together and thereby build healthy relations. 4.2 Provide advice, support and practical help to fathers including making available information and resources. 4.3 Provide parenting classes/dads’ groups to develop positive fathering skills 4.4 Carry out such activities as are charitable and which promote the benefits of healthy fathering. Furthermore, the organisation is to provide recreational facilities and advance the social needs, health and wellbeing of fathers and male carers of all ages and backgrounds living in East Lothian.
