APPENDIX 1
Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period
Baby Bliss
This group recently celebrated its 2nd birthday and is regularly attended by 15 families. We are delighted to partner with Community Early Years Practitioners who provide the Baby Massage and Messy Play along with their extensive knowledge and support.
It has been lovely to witness the growth in confidence as mums engage more over the weeks. Tea/Coffee time at the end gets longer and longer as parents make deeper, lasting friendships with one another. Recently we have witnessed mums meeting up for walks and they give us a cheery wave as they walk passed Trinity Life together.
“Baby Bliss is very welcoming, inclusive and helpful. It has helped me mentally, being with other mums and getting support especially needed in the first few months.” Magda (Mum)
“I love the transformation of the Snug for Baby Massage. Baby Bliss is an important part of our weekly routine.” Anonymous (Mum) “I feel excited to go to Baby Bliss, happy when I am there and look forward to going back. I am grateful this group exsists for me and my baby.” Anonymous (Mum)
Brew & Blether
This weekly drop-in for people of any age continues to flourish with new people coming along most weeks. Some people make this group a weekly staple in their diary while others come every second week, a few come monthly or now and again.
It has been lovely to have some young mums come along to enjoy crafting while their baby enjoys attention from granny figures. Witnessing the natural generational support that has emerged from this group has been very encouraging.
True friendships have been formed combatting loneliness as people arrange to meet up through the week outside of Brew & Blether time.
We have started to have extra one off events to help meet our plans as outlined in our application. Local history talks from Highlife Highland Family Historian and one-off Boccia afternoon were enjoyed by all who attended reducing isolation helping to improve quality of life.
“I really benefit from coming to Brew & Blether - It’s like having family around you again and that is a good feeling” Evelyn “Coming to Brew & Blether makes me happy, company Is very good and I get a lot of laughs” Isabel “Coming along has changed so many things in my life. I live alone and would miss it dreadfully if it wasn't on. Without Brew & Blether many people would be lost and alone” Violet
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period
Trinity Tots
Due to the success of Baby Bliss and following feedback from parents we developed Trinity Tots. A Toddler Learn and Play Group was one of our future plans and we are delighted it is up and running. Trinity Tots welcomes pre-school children of all ages. We have created a safe space for babies in a cozy room off the main hall with a Baby Gate providing protection from toddlers on trikes etc.
Over the last few months this group has grown exponentially and we now have 63 children registered with us. As a result we have had to spread the morning over two halls giving more space to play before snack and song time.
Many of our Toddlers started with us at just 6 weeks old attending Baby Bliss and we are delighted they have continued to connect by attending Trinity Tots. We recently had a Graduation morning as some of our children have moved to two year old nursery.
“Trinity Tots is the best place you can find for your baby through developmental stage up to pre-school. From the beginning to the end of the session it is amazing and the volunteers give all their heart to supporting babies, toddlers and parents ” Anetta (Mum) “Very lovely and friendly group. The volunteers are very friendly and caring, I feel part of the family. My girls get to socialise with others their age and Mummies get to socialise too. My Twins Love Trinity Tots!” Monika (Mum)
“The thing I like most about Trinity Tots is the volunteers are very welcoming and kind. Not only running the group but offering a listening ear and support or encouragement when needed. I benefit from coming along as my boy who can be quite clingy is comfortable and will play and I get some personal space for a period of time” Siobhan (Mum)
Superheroes Brunch Club
SuperHeroes is a very successful club running most Tuesdays in the holidays for primary school age children. Run primarily by Trinity Life, TLC Inverness are delighted to partner with this group. Last year over 100 different children attended the holiday club.
Crafting, Games, Puzzles and Snack Time are enjoyed on a station rotation regime as the SuperHeroes keep an eye on the countdown and when it goes to zero it’s time to move to the next activity.
All the children decorate a paper bag at their first craft station and this is used for all their crafted items and (mostly) healthy snacks to take home. Many of the children that move up to Secondary School are keen to come back as a helper and we now have 5 teenagers who return regularly. After the summer there will be another 5 who plan to return as helpers. TLC Inverness are exploring the possibility of whats next for these teenagers who are keen to stay connected to what is being done at Trinity Life
This summer we are delighted Safe Strong & Free will be coming to run one of our stations. This will bring some valuable input for the children.
Cash for Kids have donated £2,250 to help feed children through this group.
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period
Teen Time
Teen Time remains in our future plans however it requires much more funding for us to run this group effectively. £2,500 was donated by Robertson Trust and this is a positive start to the funding required.
We have had some one-off fun afternoons and keep connections open with young folk who would benefit. In preparation we have supported Trinity Life repairing the hall floors and one of the halls will soon be equipped for badminton.
Some of our Teenagers have enjoyed coming along to help at the SuperHeroes Holiday Club. Most of them came along while in Primary School and have now returned to wear a helpers T-Shirt, encouraging the younger children. The P7s are now getting excited to come back, wearing a Blue (previously purple) T-Shirt and helping.
