Structure, Governance and Management
Constitutlon
The Charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation la SCIOI. It was registered in its
current legal form on 1st April 2022. The charity was previously an unincorporated association but
changed its legal form to a SCIO. The assets of the unincorporated association were transferred to
the SCIO on 29th June 2023. The SCIO is structured as a "two tier" entity where there the
identities of chartty trustees and members need not be the same.
Appointment of Trustees
The management committee, often referred to as the Board, endeavours to meet each month, bar
Au8USt, and consists of the charl￿S trustees. Membership of the management committee is open
to all local residents. To allow for some continuity of the committee. it is also open to interested
members of the community to be co-opted to the management commvttee lup to a maximum of
three appointments). Trustees are elected at the annual general meeting which is held in April.
There must be a minimum of three and a maximum of nine.
Objertives and Artivities
Charitable Purposes
To stimulate public interest in all aspects of the local environment. To encourage development
that enhances the area, having regard to amenity. open space and the character and vernacular of
the area. To support the conservation and/or restoration of buildings and space contributing to
the area's environment, heritage, and culture.
Activttles
Pursuance of the charitable purposes above by means of meetings, lectures, publications, and the
promotion of activities of a charitable nature; as well as continued engagement throughout the
year with statutory and other organisations and charities to support the SCIO'S charitable
purposes.
Achievements and perfomiance
Eleven Board meetings duringthe year- seven in person at Maxwell Park Station meeting
room and four virtually by Google Meet.
Annual General Meeting on 22nd April 2025, followed bytalk from guest speaker, held at the
Fotheringay Centre.
Consistently contributed new content to the website, while expandlng the charity's presence
and engagement on Facebook and Instsgram.
Caretaking Maxwell Park Station (former booking office) meeting/exhibition room. and

maintenance of platform planters.
Exhibition and open afternoon at Maxwell Park Ststion room in September 202S.
New season of illustrated talks at the Fotheringay Centre by guest speakers in November 2025,
and January and February 2026.
Continued engagement throughout the year with statutory and other bodies to promote the
protection and improvement of the historic architectural and natural environment in the
conservation areas of West and East Pollokshields. This included scrutiny of the 107 planning
applications that were listed on the Glasgow City Council planning portal a5 being within the
Pollokshields Community Council area. 89 of the applications were for properties within the
East and West Pollokshields Conservation Areas and the tru5tee5 submitted comments on 36
of the planning applications. Engagement with both GCC planning and commercial companies
regarding visually unsympathetic fibre optic installations to the front of properties.
Financial Review
Pollokshield5 Heritsge SCIO continues to rely on donations received from members and
5UPPOrters, along with takings at events. to continue its core activities. The number of donations
received this year is 53. The donation5 along with the increasing audience takings for the Talks
Prografnme have led to a surplus this year of £569.
In the past, the charity has successfully applied for grant funding for specific projetts. No grant
funding was applied for in this financial year, and the fund in the following statements is
unrestricted.
No remuneration was paid during this financial year to any Board member or person connected to
a Board member.
No expenses were paid to any Board member duringthis financial year.
The charity's funds are held in a Bank of Scotland account.
Reserves Pollcy
Pollokshields Heritage regularly reviews the level of reserves held. It will keep reserves to manage
changes in income from donations and fundraising event5.
Plans for future period
The continuance of the charity by attracting a succession of new Board members: and identifying
pmjects to which the charity can offer support. Present Board discussions centre on a third print
run of our Heritage Trail leaflets, and financial support to the horticultural volunteers of Maxwell
Park, subject to their successful forniation of a tonstituted body with a bank account.
