CJT Projects - Chairmans Report for AGM – 6[th] November 2025

We started 2025 with a series of successful workshops looking at how to reduce food waste. It was good to see that there were some that very popular and they attracted people that haven’t previously attended CJT events. It was good to hold active events within the community.

The Highland Energy Community Partnership (HECP) with National Lottery funding has started and we are delighted that Anna Scott has taken up the role of the Energy Officer for Contin, Jamestown & Tarvie Projects. She has made an enthusiastic start – and has already engaged with people within the community. At the moment it’s about building relationships with people and trying to engage with the community to present viable options for them. Anna is directly managed for us by Garve and District.

The Connecting Communities Project is now reasonably well established. There is a part time driver that engages every Wednesday to Friday. The bus has been used by local residents for hospital and doctor trips as well as shopping and social events. Further funding is being obtained to extend the service to cover all days of the week as well as obtaining a second (electric) bus. It would be good if there could more engagement from members of the Contin community.

Phil meanwhile has been leading the charge to develop artistic projects of interest. He is mid seeking funding to develop a community song writing project and then record them in Contin Church in Summer 2026.

We remain small in number and limited by the time available from Board members but we are managing to pursue strong and interesting projects for the community – looking to enhance the lives of CJT residents. Whilst we have had approaches to join with Contin Community Trust (Contin Hall), the aims of the two remain distinct at the moment.

Thank you to all the board members for their continued involvement and inspiration. We would still like to seek to recruit new directors to be able to support and develop these projects.
