DALBEATTIE & DISTRICT LIONS CLUB
TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT — YEAR ENDING 30 JUNE 2025
PRESIDENT’S ANNUAL REPORT:
Introduction
The past year has been both challenging and rewarding for the Dalbeattie & District Lions Club. We have experienced significant moments of loss and achievement and our ongoing efforts have continued to positively impact our community.
Remembering VIF
it is with great sadness that we mark the passing ofiY GEE e dedicated Lion for over 33 years. || unwavering commitment, invaluable knowledge and inspiration will long be remembered by every member of our club. His legacy remains a guiding light for us all.
Community Engagement and Events
This year, our club organised an outing to Houghton Hall and Gretna Gateway for our elderly residents. The excursion was very well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who participated. In addition, our 2024 Christmas dinner for elderly residents was another highlight with a strong turnout and positive feedback from attendees.
Membership Growth
At the beginning ofthe[year,] the[club] faced[a] challenge with low membership numbers. However, following a highly successful recruitment drive we have welcomed several new members to our ranks. We extend our best wishes to all new and upcoming Lions, hoping they enjoy a long and fulfilling association with the club.
Commemoration and Local Involvement
Our club took part in two commemorative events to honour the men and women who gave their lives during the world wars, specifically on VE Day and VJ Day. In addition, we contributed to the Dalbeattie Civic Daze by making a donation to help fund the event and by participating in the parade, with members dressing up and joining the festivities. Well done to all those who took part.
Charity and Community Support
The Club has recently supported lan Wilbur’s fundraising efforts for Prostate Cancer, aligning with one of the Lions core objectives. Supporting our local community remains a primary aim. Throughout the year we have provided various grants to local groups such as a pond restoration project and the Dalbeattie 1* Scout group, as well as offering financial assistance to individuals to help further their sporting training and development.
Support for Local Schools
Our commitment to local education continues and we have remained actively involved in supporting numerous projects within the local schools over the past year.
