Kirsteen Johnston Objectives and activities The Ohana Club was set up during the Covid pandemic to help families aC￿sS peer support and alleviate some of the isolation the pandemic created. The Club also has a focus on alleviation of poverty, especially that of children. We accomplish this by organising a range of activities and trips to venues that families would not nonnally consider either due to financial barriers or that of transport. We con￿ntrate our activities to the holiday periods as this is when families face the fiercest of challenges. In this financial year we visited Culzean Castle, Gourock Outdoor Pool, Burnt Island and Briarlands Farm Park wrth around 60 families. We also visited Galactic Camival at Silverburn. Spooktacular at the Clydeside Village and a Christmas event at the Clydeside Village. We also held a Christmas party for our member families at a local church. Structure, governance and management The Ohana Club is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with a relevant constitution that is reviewed annually at the AGM. No amendments have been made to this document in recent years. The group meet every month to discuss and agree programmes and activities for our families to participate in. We also plan how they will be funded and what volunteer recruitment and support will be required. Trustee recruitment and appointment Trustees are appointed through an election process which takes place at the Annual General Meeting every year. However, should a vacancy become available during the year, or places remain vacant after the AGM, potential Trustees can submit an application to the Board, providing an indication of what skills and l or benefits they could bring. Any applications are discussed at board meetings and decisions made. Suitable applicants will be offered support via our local Third Sector Interface IVASLan) to help them understsnd their roles and responsibilities as a Trustee. Achievements and performance The Ohana Club has struggled to obtain enough funding to provide as much support to access our activities and trips away this year as we would have liked. This has resufted in disappointment for some families. Although funding was difficult to secure, we did manage to access some which went a long way to providing our programme for families. We also managed to self-fund a few activities though we noticed that the more vulnerable families were unable to participate fully. Financial review In this financial year, our income has exceeded our outgoings providing us with a surplus of £18987 with which to begin our programme planning for the next financial year. We received funding at the end of the financial year for this purpose. We intend to supplement this figure by applying for additional grant funding. Statement of the charity's policy on reserves The Ohana Club would love to have some reserves as this would reduce the anxiety felt by trustees and volunteers alike, however in the current economic climate, this is not likely to happen. If we were in position to hold reserves, we would look to retain enough funding to cover the costs of 3 months of activity. Donated facilities and services We re￿iVed a small donation from a member of the local community who expressed a desire to support our activrties financially. We are most grateful for this gesture of kindness. Future Plans The Ohana Club intend to organise a further programme of activities for families especially over the Summer Holiday period when families fa￿ additional expense through having to organise childcare, extra meals and also find ways in which to keep their children amused.
