Activities and achievements

Introduction

Heritage Centre Cumnock has continued with its Charitable purposes of offering itself as place to visit regularly as a Museum and Hertitage Centre. Its offering is refreshed regularly, encouraging approx. 12 Volunteers to attend weekly, attracting audiences locally and beyond and regularly presenting it’s collection professionally with the highest standards expected.

Summary of achievements of the charity during the financial period

As Lead Trustee, I am pleased to report that our year has been one of further growth and investment in our facilities.

Our visitor numbers continue to grow, as does the assets we collect and display, the A Solar Panel and Air Source Heat pump was completed in late 2024 and has reduced our utilities. Our Board and Volunteers continue to offer outstanding experiences to the Audience available and have recorded many rewarding reviews during the year.

The "Big Red Fire Engine” (BRF) project which funding was sourced (FCC) in 2023 for a Play Area for our younger Visitors was coming its completion towards July 2024 and opened to the Public in September of that year, it turned out a full 2yr Project and kept our Volunteers busy during that Period, Now we have Smiles on all ages. We currently harvest water from our roof into the 10,000 litre water tank in BRF, this allows us to fill up our Fire Engines and Bowsers to demonstrate and clean assets at HCC without incurring metered water costs.

Related Parties

Most of the assets on display within the Heritage Centre are owned by the Trustees and made available to the charity for use in its operations and events at no charge.

Financial Review

Reserves Policy

The charity have a policy of keeping reserves at a level of around six months costs, that will allow the trustees to continue with the charitable objectives for a lengthy period should fundraising income drop and grants cease. This allows us to fund seasonal variations in income streams.

The charity is currently above the 6 months reserves level, at 37 months at the year end with total cash reserves of £47,077. The charity reserves levels are linked to the timing of the restricted funding draw downs. The charity is achieving and working within the reserves levels with 26 months of unrestricted reserves at the year end.

Donated services or facilities in the financial period

We have established a dozen good relationships with local businesses in the area offering fabrication, ground works, safety training, supplies, a defibrillator, hospitality support and our audiences have donated many Historic Items that they consider the “Heritage Centre Cumnock” future custodians of.

VINTAGE VEHICLE VILLAGE (HERITAGE CENTRE) CUMNOCK REPORT BY THE INDEPENDENT EXAMINER TO THE TRUSTEE BOARD FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST JULY 2025

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31st July 2025.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiner's statement

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent examiner's statement

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention

  1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

  2. to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and

  3. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations

have not been met, or

  1. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
