Structure, governance and management

Trustee recruitment and appointment All potential trustees are interviewed by the chair or other senior trustee,
if that delivers a positive result the potential trustee are added to the
trustee mailing list and included in all internal discussions for a period of
three months or longer.
If at the end of this period there is a willingness to move forward on both
parts a vote is taken by the existing trustees with a straightforward
majority deciding the decision.

Objectives and activities

Charitable purposes The advancement of citizenship and community development to
promote for the benefit of everyone living, working and visiting
Stobswell without distinction of political, religious, gender or
disability and other opinions by working with the Local Authority,
voluntary organisations and local people.
The Forum works in common effort to advance social welfare and
wellbeing with the object of improving the conditions for all of those
livingand visitingStobswell.

in relation to these objects
Supporting individuals and community groups to identify and
articulate their needs, then take practical action to address those
needs.Encourage and support public involvement in the planning
and development process. Help to develop a community plan that
identifies local needs and sets out a programme for addressing
them
Build and maintain partnerships between community groups,
voluntary organisations and public sector bodies to improve local
decision making.

Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of
the charity during the financial period
Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The Forum working with partners
in other areas of the city have delivered the DPIL to central
Stobswell with funding to kick start the project being delivered by the
Maryfield Regeneration Forum. The project is delivering free books
delivered direct to their homes to children aged 0-5 in key areas
suffering from deprivation within the community.
Stobswell Connect. The Forum continue to operate the community
hub supporting local third sector organisations to deliver improved
advice, signposting and support in the local area.
The Stobswell Forum supported by the local community in
partnership with St Andrews University delivered a resilience and
cohesion workshop to examine the medium and long term effects on
the community of the anti-migrant protests which took place during
the year.
Stobswell Festive Celebration & Appeal. The annual Festive
Celebration and Appeal is organised annually working with the
council, local schools, doctor surgeries and local people. The main
activities are opening a Christmas Shop in the month prior to 25th
December, two Light Night Shows and a Christmas Concert at the
local high school plus the organisation of the Festive Appeal which
generates funds for local people in need of assistance, additional
festive lighting has also been delivered during the year.
Community Arts Projects, We continue to work with local housing
associations to deliver new art in Weavers Yard.
Financial review

The charity aims to hold a minimum of £7,500 in un-restricted
reserves at any one time.

The Stobswell Forum activities are project based with all projects
expected to be at least in a break even position.
