Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the advancement of environmental protection or improvement'

Raising awareness about Edinburgh's coast and the Firth of Forth in terms of cultural heritage, and important biodiversity designations and threats to and losses regarding these. Our aim is to deliver sustainable change. We undertake this through research, recording, and community engagement events. We use local volunteers for Citizen Science projects. We liaise with relevant organisations such as the City of Edinburgh Councll, have a close working relationship with Heriot Watt University and ongoing collaboration with Universities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling as well as others. Students use our project for dissertations for mutual benefit.. We are Part of the Coastal Communities Network and the CCTBON Atlantic coastal temperature logging. We are actively engaged in the reintroduction of oysters and seagrass into the Forth, monitoring the decline of the Blue mussel population, sea water quality and creating coastal wildflower meadows.

Objectives: 3 The organisation’s main purpose is: to advance the protection and enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage, principally of Edinburgh’s coast and intertidal areas, but also of the Firth of Forth generally. This is undertaken through community engagement and periodic collaboration with other appropriate organisations and charities on targeted projects.
