Structure, Governance and Management
Constitution
The Charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (a SCIO). It was registered in its current legal form on 6 May 2021. The charity was previously a charitable company (SC680390) incorporated on 24 February 2021, before it changed its legal form to SCIO. It’s previous legal form before a charitable company was a Ltd company formed on 10 November 2020. The assets of the charitable company were transferred to the SCIO on 5 August 2021.
Appointment of Trustees
The Board of trustees meet regularly throughout the period between the annual general meeting and control and supervise the SCIO. Membership is open to any individual who has demonstrated the aims and activities of the SCIO. In the SCIO there are two types of Trustee: a) Member Trustee (a charity trustee (drawn from the membership of the SCIO) elected /appointed under clauses 87 to 96 ofthe constitution); b) Co-opted Trustee (a non-member charity trustee appointed by the Board under clauses 97 and 98). Trustees are elected at the annual general meeting which is held in April. There must be a minimum of 3 trustees (2 of whom must be Member Trustees) and a maximum of 12 (no more than 6 Member Trustees and 6 Co-opted Trustees).
Objectives and Activities
Charitable purpose
The SCIO’s objectives are:

a) To advance environmental protection and improvement within Dougalston and the surrounding areas (the Community), in particular (but without limitation) through the conservation and protection of flora and fauna and the protection of green spaces for the public benefit; and
-
b) To advance community development with the community, in particular (but without limitation) through encouraging and supporting public involvement in the planning and development process, and working with individuals and organisations within the Community to identify and address the needs of the Community.
Activities
During the year the SCIO has engaged with professionals and local residents to assist in the environmental protection and improvement within Dougalston and the surrounding areas. This included commissioning reports which were submitted to the local council as part of LoveDougalston’s submission to the East Dunbartonshire Council LDP2 planning consultation process.
Financial review
Our source of funding during the year was donations from local supporters, The main expenditure incurred during the year was for professional fees related to assisting our aim in the environmental protection of Dougalston and the surrounding area. Other expenditure included IT services fees for the ongoing support of the LoveDougalston website which is used to promote the Charity, inform the community of the work of the Charity and encourage support through donations.
Plans for future periods
The Trustees will continue to promote the Charity via the website, social media and local media outlets to encourage donations from local residents. Approved by the Trustees on 1 ),September 2025 and signed on their behalf by:

For the year ended 30 April 2025 Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Love Dougalston SCIO (the I report on the Accounts of the SCIO for the year ended 30 April 2025 which are set out on pages 4 to 5.
Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner
The SCIO’s Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) regulations 2006 (as amended). The SCIO’s Trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1)(d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1)(c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. of Independent Independent Examiner’s Statement My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the SCIO and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention: 1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: a. to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and b. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations have not been met, or 2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

I Basis of Accounting
These accounts have been prepared on the Receipts & Payments basis in accordance with the Charities & Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). 2 Nature and Purpose of Funds
Unrestricted funds are those that may be used at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the objects of the charity. Restricted funds may only be used for specific purposes. There were no receipts of restricted funds during the year.
3 Donations
Donations were received from supporters. The donations were unrestricted funds,
4 Costs of charitable activities
IT services fees of £1051 and £960 Professional Advertising fees were paid during the year for the ongoing support of the Love Dougalston website which is used to promote the Charity, inform the community of the work of the Charity and encourage support through donations.
5 Remuneration
No Trustee received any remuneration in relation to their position as Trustee of the SCIO during the year.
