On the 18th June it changed its name to SpACE, it does not have a specffic beneficiary group but is set up to serve the whole community through ts objectives listed bekny. Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees Our conslrtution allows us to have a minimum of4 trustees but {unless othemse detemiined by resolution) shall not be subject to any maximum. The individuals who signed the Charty Trustee declaration fomis accompanying the application for incorporation of the organisation shall be deemed to have been appointed as Chanty Trustees wth effect from the date of incorporation of the organisation. The Board may appoint additional persons a5 Charty Trustees at any time. Objectives and Activities Space is established for the following purposes: the advancement of the arts. herttage. culture and science. together with citizenship and community development through promoting discussion and understanding of Scotland's architecture and design in developing local communities., the advancement of education. with a particular focus on architecture in Edinburgh and rther throughout Scotland. encouraging and providing opportunities for members of the public to take an active part in consultations regarding development of their communities." and-, the advancement of enwronmental improvement, focusing on the promotion of low carbon developments in Scottish communities. The press-release at the time of the launch in October 2021 described SpACE as a "plafform" for architecture, carbon and environment, thereby embracing physical and digital forms of communication. It was -a long-needed public forum with a dear focus on how the built environment is critical in addressing the dimate emergency.. While other major cities including Amsterdam, Bologna, Hamburg and London are home to established architecture centres or 'Urban Rooms,, Edinburgh's SpACE has had a unique focus on facilitaling public engagement wth the role of design excellence. place-making. heritage, landscape and construction in the pursuit of net zero carbon. Achlevements and perforniance SpACE was opened to coincide wth Scotland's hosting of COP26 with a public popup exhibition. event space and online venue, extending for 5 weeks from 1 November to 4 Dember 2021.

The report of 2021 describes its achievements and performance in detail. There has been little activity during 2024. although it was possible lo continue showing the exhibition panels at venues within Edinburgh. assisted by as in 2023. The exhibition panels were removed from storage for this and they are currently looked after by in her office workshop facility. for no charge. In October 2024, SpACE was approached by and (Director) of Architecture & Design Scotland. to see rf rt was possible to revisit the concepl of SpACE. Their proposal was to use and expand some ofthe analysis of urban design and carbon emissions for project backed by the Scottish Government. attended a meeting with A&DS and agreed this was well worth pursuing. A&DS have subsequently approached Arup. who compiled some of the original data and it has been agreed that another meebng should be held to take this forward during 2025. The website is still operatt'onal and remains an invaluable source of free infornation for the public and professional groups alike. v¢ww.s ace-edinbur h.com Due to budget cuts at Cty of Edinburgh Council, it has not been possible to pursue a further exhibition at the City Art Centre, as discussed with Cllr McFarlane in 2024. Financial Review Apart from renewing the website licence. the only invoTrce during 2024 was in respect ofthe annual accounts with Wbg serVs LLP. Opening reserves were £31.810 {2023.' £33,513) and closed in December 2024 at £30,593 (2023- £31.810). The accounts have been approved by the trustees and signed on their behalf: Date.. 2 May 2025

Respectlvo responslbllltl8s of trustees and Oxamlner The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance wth the temis of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006_ The charty trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 1011) {d} ofthe Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is myresponsibilityto examine the accounts as required under section 44(11 (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attents"on. Basls of Independent examlner's statement My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audrt and. consequently. I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts. Independent examlner's statement In the course of my examination, no matter has come to rny attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44(1)(al of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply wth Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations have not been met. or 2. to which, in my opinion. attention should be drawn in orderto enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
