## Leslie Community Pantry ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2022 Leslie Community Pantry w: www.lesliecommunitypantry.co.uk @: gayle@lesliecommunitypantry.co.uk t: 07730789255 _Leslie Community Pantry is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with the Registration number SCO50633_ ## _Annual Report for Leslie Community Pantry Year 2_ ## -Who we are- Leslie Community Pantry is a registered charity operating in Fife, founded by as a response to the Covid-19 Pandemic of April 2020. When the pandemic first hit and the country was put on a national lockdown, acted to her communities needs and create a food pantry that allowed families who were in need an opportunity to access food. This would never have been made possible if it wasn’t for the incredibly kind offer from The Station Hotels owners , based on Leslie High Street who selflessly offered their property to us, allowing us to facilitate the pantry from their beer garden, and once restrictions were lifted, we moved into a function suite inside the property. Many of these families would never have needed to access food provisions prior to covid, however after losing their sources of income over night many had no choice but to seek assistance. Leslie Community Pantry first began as an emergency food provider, however quickly grew and aimed to provide so much more than just food when restrictions were lifted. Since we have begun, we have realised that our vision is to put the Unity back into the Community and we believe we are slowly achieving that within the Leslie Community and have since forged fantastic working relationships with both local businesses and organisations within our community and also a great rapport with the residents of Leslie. ## -Our aims are- The charitable purpose of the organisation is: 2.1 to relieve poverty and hardship whilst promoting social inclusion and health and wellbeing for all ages among the residents of Leslie, or the KY6 area. 2.2 to relieve those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantages in Leslie or the KY6 area. 2.3 the advancement of citizenship or community development within Leslie or the KY6 area. 2.4 the advancement of health within Leslie or the KY6 area. 2.5 In furtherance of the stated charitable purpose we will promote, establish and operate events (fundraisers) (schemes) of a charitable nature for the benefit of the community of Leslie and the KY6 area. ## - Our Trustees – Chair Person Secretary Treasurer ## -Year 2- As we entered into the second year of being a registered charity, it was clear to us that although restrictions on Covid were easing – we were not out the woods, and a cost-of-living crisis was looming over everyone. ## -Supporters - We were delighted to be starting the year with such great support from our local Morrisons in Glenrothes. We were officially announced as their ‘Foodbank Pick Up Pack’ receivers, over the course of the year, these pick-up packs were a godsend and very much appreciated by everyone at Leslie Community Pantry. the Community Champion at Morrisons Glenrothes was incredibly kind to us throughout the whole year, liaising with us each week and filling the bags with items we were in desperate need of. Another fantastic support to us over the course of this year has been from a number of groups who run from The Station Hotel on Leslie High Street. We are very grateful for the support from the owners of the Hotel – , along with the Glenrothes Loyal RSC, Glenrothes True Blues 123 and the Apprentice Boys. Their continued support is very much appreciated, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside them over the years to come. ## -Events - We have throughout the year continued to host inclusive events for the community, from Easter egg hunts, to Halloween discos to even hosting a Santa’s grotto in December 2022. All these events have been very well attended, and supported by the local community in a number of different ways. In last year’s report, I touched on hoping to reinstate , and with a fantastic team behind me and the support from The Skene Trust who very kindly donated £7460 to cover the cost we were able to make that happen. The funding we received from The Skene Trust allowed Leslie Community Pantry to make sure the event was as inclusive as possible, all attractions were free and we were able to run our own BBQ keeping the costs down for families, and giving them the much-needed quality time together just before the children went back to school after their summer holidays. This wouldn’t have been made possible with The Skene Trust. We were able to run our annual summer trip, this year heading to Camperdown Park in Dundee. We had 16 families on board the bus all ready for a day trip away from the door steps of Leslie, with their friends and loved ones making core memories together. Lunch was provided to those that requested and overall it was a fantastic day had by all. ## -Whats Next for Leslie Community Pantry- We believe that the future is very bright for Leslie Community Pantry, with plenty of opportunities to continue the work we are doing along with growing and developing our skillsets. Helping to meet the needs of the community through the difficult years that we believe are yet to come. We will continue to grow our roots in Leslie, and maintain the relationships we have with the local community, organisations and businesses that have helped us to get to the place we are right now along with developing new relationships and partnership working. From last years report, we are still working in the background on sourcing a growing space which will allow us to grow our own produce, while creating a community garden for all to enjoy.
