**Type of governing document** The charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation and is governed by the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended) and the charity’s constitution. **Trustee recruitment and appointment** The board of trustees may at any time appoint any person to be a charity trustee by way of a resolution passed by majority vote at a board meeting.

To be a forum for discussion between the consultant surgeons (including
locums) and specialty grade doctors working in orthopaedics and trauma
in Scotland. To respond to requests for information on matters relating to
orthopaedics and trauma in Scotland from the Scottish Parliament.
To particularly consider professional practice and service provision,
including clinical governance and quality issues, but also to act as a forum
for discussion of issues in education and training (whilst recognising that
the responsibility for these elements lies with other bodies).
To support ongoing service development in collaboration with Scottish
Orthopaedics Service Development Group (SOSDG) and the national
Centre for Sustainable Delivery (CfSD).
To act as a central reference point in data collection, both for staffing and
workload (with projected changes), and to act as an umbrella organisation
for structures such as the Scottish Arthroplasty Register.
To link with partner organisations including the British Orthopaedic
Association and NHS Education for Scotland.|

|**Summary of the main achievements of**
**the charity during the financial period**||
||During this period, SCOT successfully arranged and held their Summer
Conference at Dunblane Hydro Hotel on 6thSeptember 2024.
The 2025 Winter Conference was organised to be held in January at Crieff
Hydro Hotel. Unfortunately, due to a red weather warning affecting a
significant portion of Scotland, the conference had to be moved to an on-
line format at very short notice. Despite this setback, the meeting was well
attended on-line. Most meeting sponsors and Crieff Hydro Hotel were
understanding of the difficult situation we were placed in due to the
weather, allowing most sponsor monies and hotel booking payment
(minus £5,000) to be carried forward to the Winter 2026 Conference.|

||**Future plans**|SCOT will organise and run a Summer Conference (online meeting, 12th
September 2025) and a Winter Conference (23-24thJanuary 2026, Crieff
Hydro Hotel).
We will continue to liaise closely with orthopaedic trainees to support
their education. For example, SCOT has enabled an in-person
orthopaedic trainees meeting to be held at Dunblane Hydro Hotel in
September 2025 to proceed. SCOT provided the £1,250 deposit
required for the meeting, arranged by STOTS (Scottish Trauma and
Orthopaedics Trainees Symposium).
We will continue to promote close ties with orthopaedic colleagues in the
rest of the UK, with a keynote speech from Amar Rangan (president,
British Orthopaedic Association) at the Winter 2026 conference.|
