## **Objectives & Activities of the Trust** 

The Encampment Trust aims to provide a place of respite and relaxation to members of the hutting community and other local service users, whilst enhancing the natural environment and providing a safe haven for protected species within the vicinity of the site. 

This is done through the following activities: 

- Caring for the Forest Environment through regular tree maintenance and management, including felling and replanting when necessary 

- Providing a protected space for various badger setts located within the site 

- Creation of a Forest Garden to produce fruit, vegetables and herbs in partnership with the Hutting Community and other Local Organisations 

- Working in Partnership with local charities to provide Service User Placements

## **Trustees Annual Report** 

Throughout the year, the trustees have continued to monitor the direction, aims and purposes of the charity, as well as their roles and responsibilities in alignment with the Trust Deed. 

After consultation with the South Lanarkshire Council planning department, the charity applied for a change of use for the Plot 0 hut.  This allowed the charity to lease the plot to a private individual, with lease proceeds going directly to CCI. 

The continued establishment of the Forest Garden has been positive this year. The social area constructed in the community garden is now embedded and encourages people to gather in the charity garden. Social gatherings continue to take place, bringing people together. 

The group of bee enthusiasts continue to work the hives and learn their craft.  The garden area remains available for hutters to use as an area for their specific projects, whether that is the growing of willow for weaving, or medicinal herbs. 

The trustees have continued to engage with local charity Clydesdale Community Initiatives, resulting in further tree planting undertaken within the forest garden, along with providing more regular maintenance activities for the individuals that the CCI supports.  The routine placement group continue to maintain the wider forest area. 

## **Plans for the Future** 

As we continue into 2026 and beyond, the trustees have considered the following developments to meet the charitable purposes set out in the Trust Deed: 

- To continue to develop the forest garden, specifically with the creation of paths throughout the area to allow easier access and engagement for all potential users. 

- Continue with routine placements from the service users of Clydesdale Community Initiatives and encourage additional non-routine visits. 

- Expand on our network of engagement with local organisations to encourage and allow access to the forest for more of the local community 

- Work with the hutting community on the collation of wildlife camera footage to develop short films for promotion of the site and the development of the Trust. 

## **Financial Statements** 

We have prepared our Financial Statement of Activities in line with all Charity Legislation and recognise that they are simplified in nature due to the limited activities of the Trust within the year.  We have not prepared a Balance Sheet for the year as we do not currently hold any assets of value and have no outstanding liabilities at 30 September 2025. 

All funds held by the charity are deposited into our Community Bank Account held at the Cooperative Bank, with all expenditure incurred in the year detailed on the statement.  In line with

the appropriate Accounting Standards, the trustees recognise that there is no requirement to have the accounts audited.

## **Notes to the Accounts** 

1. All Donations in the year were received from our main donor to the Trust, namely Chemical Legislation Professionals Ltd. 

2. Expenditure incurred in relation to Site Maintenance and Development relates to costs associated with maintaining site paths, drains and car park area, as well as developing the forest garden. 

3. The balance of funds carried forward at 30 September 2024 is held in the Trust Bank Account.
