## **Achievements and performance**
**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period**
Edinburgh Schools Kayak Club had an active and successful 2025 with significant activity at our base on the Union Canal as well as success for our members at domestic and internation events. This includes:
- Our Young Carers program continues to thrive supporting 100 young children with free places and giving them similar opportunities as other young people, as well as a break from their caring responsibilities
- 220 young people from Edinburgh and the surrounding area taking part in our summer paddle sport courses
- Regular courses running throughout the year for our club members
- Our Diversity, Inclusion, Apprenticeship and Leadership (DIAL) initiative helping Apprentice coaches be upskilled by Lead Coaches throughout the year
- 6 additional club members attained coaching awards including Foundation Safety and Rescue Award, allowing them to start on their leadership journey.
- Significant success of club members competing for Great Britain at international events including:
- Gold medal in K1 Men Kayak Cross at the Senior European Championships
- Bronze medal in K1 Women Slalom at the U23 World Championships
- `o` Silver medal in K1 Women Kayak Cross at the U23 World Championships
- `o` Gold medal in K1 Men Kayak Cross at the U23 World Championships
- `o` Gold medal in K1 Women Team at the U23 White Water Racing World Championships
- Club members participated in numerous White Water Racing, Sprint and Slalom events across the UK, achieving many notable successes and promotions
- • Raised further funds towards our facilities development project to provide changing, toilet, shower and boat storage facilities which will support increased participation, future sustainability and all year use
- • Extensive use is being made of our new Slalom facility at the Craiglockhart viaduct and is supporting faster development of our slalom paddlers providing opportunities for progression in this Olympic discipline

All course provision is undertalken by qualified and vetted paddle sport coaches. Coaches are paid for this
work. The club develops young coaches, contracts in coaches and some of the trustees are also qualified
coaches who may utilised for course provision. All use of Trustees (or their family members) for paid
coachhing is pre-approved by the trustees.
We may utilise a trustee (on a paid basis), or trustee family member, to undertake coaching as they can offer
capability and experience beyond which we can source from the locally available pool of contract coaches.

Unrestricted Funds are primarilly made up of receipts from canoe/kayak courses provided to club members

Restricted Funds are those received for specific purpose, typically a grant towards provision of a project, the
purchase of equipment, or devlopment of the facility. In 2025 there was a single grant of £500 towards coach
