Diamond A115tar5 Cheer and Dance became a sao durln8 the Covid 19 pandemic whlch made for a difficult start. as we spent a lot of tlme unable to provide face to fa trainln8 due to the nature of the sport being c105e contact. However, we dld provlde zoom dasses to those who wlshed to particlpate. Agaln, thls had Its challenges as it was a first and we were restrlrted in what we were able to teach. On a positive note, it was lovely to be able to keep In touch wlth our members, keeplng them motivated and attive, wh115t 5UPPOrting their mental wellbeln8. We returned briefiy in september 2020 for 4 months. this also came with its challen8es as there were many restrlctlons surroundin8 the sport and training sessions. Some for example were only attending one session a day. working wlthln the same dose contact group. dose contatt (stunting) could only be performed for a certain amount of time and our over 18s couldn't participate in group tralnlng sesslons. This was hugely difflcult a5 dan and cheer in partlcular are a team sport and requ¢res a lot of dose contact. In January 2021, Scotland was put Into another lockdown so again this meant we were unable to provide face to face training. This was extremely disappointlng but we provided our zoom cla55es to those who wtshed to participate. However, this tlme they weren't as well attended due to the time of year (winter months} and athletes havlng a lack of space withln their home5 to train. Due to the Covld 19 restriction5 this also imparted our competition teams as they were unable to attend annual competitions. This was a masslve dlsappointment for the coaches and competltlon athletes as this is what they work hard for all year. Now both competltion and recreational athletes have returned, they are back enjoying the sport they love, workin8 hard and ¢)ur competttion teams are motivated arKI determlned more than ever to succeed at thelr upcoming competitions. Desplte the dlfflcult year due to Covld 19 we are rtlll attractlng new athletes to both competltion and recreational classe5. Another hurdle to the dub was, our usual training facility was closed for 516 weeks to have a new floor laid withln their sports hall. Thls meant we had to traln In a different venue. It was difficult to find a sultable venue as we needed gymnastic mats, a hall with plenty 4)a and a hlgh llIng. After numerous enquiries. we fourtd a suitable trainlng spa and were able to resume competition dasses. Dlamond Allstars Cheer and Dance usually host an annual ShowcaselAwards Day. Thls event Is where our competitlon athletes perfomi their competition routlnes to family, friends and recreatlonal members, as well as presentlng various awards to chosen athletes. The bi8 awards consist of Coaches Cheerleader, Cheerleaders Cheerleader and Scholarshlp. Our Scholarshlp award Is awarded to a 5tsnd oirt athlete and thls award means the club will fund the winnerfs competitlon fees for the followln8 competition sea%m. Due to restrlrtions on lar8e indoor events/gatheringsi we were unable to host our Showcase. We look forward to hostlng our next one. A8aln, due to the unfortunate year we were unable to particlpate in fundralslng 5uth a4 bag packlng, stalls at local communlty events. hosting community bingo teas, sponsored artivities.
Thls not only Imparted our funds, It alx) Impatted our members as these are great Inding and social events. This year we will be looking to renew our efforts to rectlfy this. Lastly the dub dld take some hits throughout the pandemic but we are so thankful we managed to survive and come out the other end. We are lookin8 forward to a more posltive year ahead. 28104122
