Board Report Go Deep Board meeting 5th June 2024 Summary of discussions at meetings from September 2023- 31st August 2024 ## **External Activities** This year we continued as partners in the Just Transitions Community Project, hosted by Nescan and funded by the Scottish Government. Funding. This year we did not hold a separate budget instead we worked in collaboration with NESCAN staff in order to support their learning of go deep tool. ## **Collaborative work with NESCAN I(Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire) included:** - Work with NESCAN community workers to support community involvement in preparing the place plan for Banchory, Aberdeenshire - Activities with Girl Guides in Turriff and surrounds on talking about and acting on environmental issues. - Collaboration with Aberdeen minority ethnic women’s group to hole an inclusive Go Deep event to support the development of leadership in the project. A Go Deep event is planned in Aberdeen on 7th June. - Participation in the Just Transition Community Project partnership, meetings, planning and learning processes including collaboration with Aberdeen University researchers. - Collaboration with Open Source ( a partner in the project) to develop and deliver a training for facilitators of deliberative processes. - Delivery of a pilot course for NESCAN staff (March 24) with a course in Moray planned for autumn - A full Go Deep game is planned to take place in Seaton in autumn and work is taking place to prepare for it - Envirolution, run by a team from Manchester. ## **Other Go Deep external activities** - A Go Deep event is planned in collaboration with Fifecan for Climate action week in Kirkcaldy - We are supporting the development of a Go Deep England organisation which will result in a Go deep game in the midlands, we are meeting with them regularly to explain the game and support their understanding on how to host one. They are applying for funding to organise a future GD game in the Midlands. ## **Internal activities** • Go Deep has now added to the board, has been removed and is carrying out work in Aberdeen and elsewhere on behalf of the trustees. - has been appointed again to scrutinise the accounts - The website is under construction with the help of a new volunteer team member who has designed an accessible, simple website to launch later this year. Plans for the coming year Complete the website and launch it Complete the final year (3) of our partnership in the JTCP Search for funding that will allow us to continue working in a collaborative and collective way. We are learning that a Go deep is a very flexible set of tools and can enable deep and meaningful community and personal connection and promote change. However the outcomes cannot be predicted or easily measured. Our belief is that work at deeper level can move us all towards more connection across our differences and promote deeper societal changes. We want to continue being a team with many diverse identities that expands and changes over time creating a growing, loose network that sustains and supports each other. This causes difficulties in the current climate where difference is feared and many people are scared to be themselves. We will work creatively to ensure that people with all kinds of lived experiences can be a meaningful part of a Go Deep Scotland Network.
