To save rainforests and relieve poverty at the same time. It does this using a special forestry technique known as Inga alley cropping. (see website). We work in Ecuador and in Cameroon, contacting farmers and village communities showing them how the system works, giving them Inga seeds/seedlings to start them off and following them up until they have established the system.

Beneficiaries: 'Other defined groups','Other charities or voluntary bodies'

Objectives: The Objects We aim to relieve poverty among subsistence farmers in the humid tropics, and protect or improve the environment in rainforest or former rainforest areas, thereby also contributing to education, the advancement of citizenship and community development, the preservation of heritage and culture and human rights. and without prejudice to the above we will do this by supporting work and projects which promote agroforestry and rainforest regeneration in tropical rainforest areas as a viable and sustainable alternative to the slash and burn agriculture currently practised by millions of the world's poorest farmers: without prejudice to the generality this may include a) promoting the knowledge and use of Inga alley cropping, using Inga trees and other suitable tree species, amongst subsistence farmers throughout the world's humid tropics, with initial emphasis on Central and South America and the promotion of and instruction in cropping methods such as Inga alley cropping believed suitable to advance the purposes of the Charity. b) contacting and collaborating with other organisations with similar aims with a view to supporting existing demonstration farms and facilities, setting up new ones, facilitating farmers' visits to them and supporting the use of the Inga and/or similar and/or associated technology for the regeneration of tropical rainforest, for example in biological corridors and sustainable timber production. c) developing and publicising technology associated with agroforestry and rainforest regeneration through various media, including informative webpages and articles in appropriate journals
