Folklore Scotland was registered on the 31 St of July 2020. The
Trustees from the inception of the charity and throughout the period
covered by this report are..
Ob'ectives and activities
Folklore Scotland was established in order to:_
Advance for the public benefit.. the preservation of folkloric
heritage in Scotland for Scotland's future generations by
curating, developing and propagating Scottish myths and
legends through a variety of media.
Promote for the public benefit.. education of folkloric heritage in
Scotland for Scotland's general public by supplying them with a
range of educational resources including, but not limited to,
information provided through our website, social media and
community events.
In the past year we have furthered these aims through continuing to produ￿ our
weekly podcasts and developing the range of tales on our website. We have
continued to provide interviews and assist students in developing their knowledge
of folklore. We have sought to reach new audiences this year through live events
and working with other organisations through our podcast.
Website
The Folklore Scotland website is designed to give the public easy access to a
wealth of regional Scottish Folklore. This year we have continued to gradually
develop our bank of folklore which is accessible to anyone with the internet. We

have also from a board level been looking at how best to redevelop the website
and what consultations are required to further progress this.
Podcast
The Podcast reached its 100th episode this year arrd continues to attract a strong
and engaged listenership. As well as our usual podcasting groups we have had
the opportunity to work with other organisations in podcast to have an expert guest
on our podcast and some of our members speak on another popular podcast
series. This is something we hope to continue moving foNard.
Other Activities this Year
We had the opportunity to host a live podcast session this year as well as exhibit
some of the art created by our contributors. This year has however been more
focussed on reinforcing the continuity of our core offering and reflecting upon the
range of activities we have undertaken in previous years in order to look towards
the creation of a development strategy over the next year.

Folklore Scotland is governed by a constitution. The membership of
Folklore Scotland is made up of the charity trustees.
Trustee recruitment and appointment

exception of the resignation of

subsequent reappointment at the board meeting held immediately
following the AGM., as in line with our constitutional requirement for
one board member to step down each year. The constitution makes
provision for between 3 and 7 trustees who can be appointed at any
time through a majority vote at a board meeting.
Financial review
Folklore Scotland's income for the year was £130 consisting of £80 in
donations and £40 from an art sale.
Total expenditure for the year was £215.86 which was through
Charitable activities.
Leaving a deficit of £86 which was met from the surplus from previous
years.
Future
lans
In the coming year Folklore Scotland hopes to undertake the following,
subject to funding being secured:
Create a long-term development plan
Redesign elements of the website

Attend live events
Work on collaboration projects
Engage new audiences
Enhance financial sustainability through identifying revenue
streams or core funding opportunities.

The chariry's trustees are responsible for the pi'eparation of ihe aLcounts in accordance with the ierms
of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 (the Act) and the Charitie5 Account.
(Scotland) Rcgulations 2006, as amended {Il]¢ A¢¢ounts R¢gulations). The charity trustees consider
that the audit requirement of Regulatiun l Q(l) (d) tsfihe 2006 Aluounts R¢gulolions does Iiut dpply. It
is my responsibility to examine the accounts as reqiiired linder section 4411) (c) of the Acl and to State
whether purticular matters have come to Tny attention.

My examination is carried out in a¢cordan¢e with regulation I l of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. All
examination includes a review of the accounting recoi'ds k¢pt by Ihc charity and a comparison of the
accniints piesenled with those records. It alsn includes con5idcration of any unusual iiems or
disclosure5 in the accounts and secking explanations fi'om the trustees concerning any such matters.
The procedures undei'tak¢n do not providc all the evidence that would be required in an audit and
consequently I do not express an aiidit opinion on the view given by the account5.
