Objectives and Activities

Balls and Boots exists to remove financial barriers that stop children in poverty across Scotland from taking part in sport. We provide brand-new football boots, PE kit, and inclusive coaching, ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate with dignity.

Our work focuses on three main activities:

¢ Supplying new boots, kit and clothing through referrals from schools, Active Schools coordinators, youth workers and direct family requests (via email, social media and drop-ins).

• Delivering inclusive coaching sessions, including small-group and one-to-one sessions for children with additional needs or low confidence.

¢ Linking children into schoo! and community teams and offering leadership opportunities for young people aged 16-21.

All support is provided free of charge and targeted to the areas of greatest need.

Structure, Governance and Management

Balls and Boots is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) regulated by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). Trustees meet regularly to oversee strategic direction, ensure good governance, and review safeguarding and financial responsibilities.

Achievements and Performance

In 2024-2025, Balls and Boots supported over 350 children and 83 families across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Lanarkshire, Perth, Alloa, Elgin, Inverness, West Lothian, Dumfries and Aberdeen,

Referrals through our website increased by 23%, demonstrating growing trust and awareness of our services. Families and professionals can contact us directly, ensuring swift and stigma-free support.

“BallsandBoots continues to grow. We have confirmed more partners this year in supporting children in poverty in Scotland. Financially it has been a tough year for grants and awards. Many applications made with only a few successful. The main reason seems to be too many applicants not enough money. So we are very grateful to The Weir Charitable Trust, Allied Vehicle Trust, The Souter Trust, VANL, Foundation Scotland, Hymans Robertson, Sported, The Robertson Trust, Shared Access, Arnold Clark and all donors to our JustGiving page for your continued vital support. This coming year we will strive to reach even more children throughout the country.”

Financial Highlights

Balls and Boots submits full accounts separately to OSCR.

This year, for the first time, we launched a JustGiving page, raising £1,569 to support our work.

Plans for the Future

Over the next year, Balls and Boots will:

¢ Strengthen partnerships across Scotland.

¢ Continue to prioritise families in poverty and children with additional needs.

¢ Expand reach to new communities while maintaining quality support.

¢ Build sustainability through diversified income streams.
