Objertives The objectives of DVH SCIO are set out in the constitution. Through raising funds. thè trustees will pursue the SCIO'5 objective to facilitate and provide recreational and educational fatilities In the remote community of Drirnnin. The predecessor of DVH SCIO was an informèl organisation called Drimnin Village Hall Ihereafter known as Dvfrfj. This ha5 not been operative since the approval of DVH SCIO. Holl leGse,' DVH has leased Drimnin Hall on a full maintenance and repair lease frow the Highland Council since 1980. Since then an extension on 3 50 year lease, up until 2051 has been taken out. The lease needed to transferred to the new SCIO bodyt which was done so in 2024.
Achievements and perfomiance The committee before today have held nine meetings with the timing dependant on the business of the SCIO. At these meelings we discussed activities, finances, renovation plans, quotes and the operation of the DVH SCIO wa5 regularly reviewed. We now have 80 people subscribed to our newsletter. On a weekly basis the Bonnavullin library has opened it's doors. These Saturday mornings offerthe p055ibility of discovering a new book and are a regular source of social contact. During the winter months the monthly Drimnin Cinema has been running. We are paying for a Public Video scenIng Licence IPVSLI which allow us host these monthly Drimnin Cinemas. Exceptionally. because the hall needed repairs, our Spring Talk this year was held at the Chapel. The Summer BBQ and Taffle was, as it usually is, Ouf most attended event with 51 attendees. Bonfire Night was held on the beach, with a BBQ and puddings. This yearfs Carol Sinning was followed by a warming'bring a dish'meal inside the hall. Yet again the population of Drimnin proved themselves to be 3 group of fabulous cooks! Burns Night whilst being approached less traditionally thi5 year. we celebrated poetry rather than the barde specifically, was no less popular. We provided a Haggis supper for 40 people. which we learnt is pretty much the maximum for such an event. The second most attended event with 49 people was the PechaKucha Night. An inspiring buzz filled the hall mixed with periods of quiet concentration for ihe presentations from locals. There was a bar and bu5 from the local village on the evening. And then there were some great community led events. For one we had a wine and a Curry Night and Quiz We'd like to encourage you to contact US With your ideas for events and let's make them happenl The hall was also let out for a MoNern Community Council Meeting, a theatre workshop, a CAOLAS presentation and a private function. This year120251 we intend to apply for a some grants for the ceiling renovation and insulation, lighting, picture rail, installing a fire and very importantly improving the acoustic. We have aladY begun gathering quotes for work on repairing the ceiling and improving the acoustics, both of which the committee has agreed are first priority. Last year we independently sought quotes for opening up the existing fireplace and installing a multi fuel stove. We have recently spoken with Busine55 Energy Scotland to consult on how we can make the hall more energy and heat efficient. Upgrading the heating and lighting and adding insulation are top of the agenda. To make these improvements we recognise funding is necessary. After establishinE a maintenance and repairs. outlining priorities we plan to apply for funding through Morvern Community Trust (Mcfi's April intake. We also have information sessions in April with Highland and Islands Climate
Hub and Highland Third Sector Interface both of which are offering funding for communrties such as Drimnin. Our Upcoming events include a presentation about the reintroduction of red Squirrels, a sprin8 talk and a Midsummer Ceilidh. Policy on reserves The DVH SCIO Tru5tee5 will aim to manage the Hall fSnances according to the following guidelines-. Annual Income should cover the running costs of DVH SCIO. Surplus income should be applied to improvement projects and the reserves. Running costs. 8eneral income and improvement C05tS should be regularly reviewed by the Trustees and discussed at the AGM. A financial reserve of at least £3,000 should be maintained to cover unexpected loss of income or damage to the Hall outwith any insurance policy. This amount will be reviewed annually. If sufficSent funds are available, the trustees are authorised to or8ani5e events and projects for the benefit of the Drimnin Communty and for which no charge is made. All other events will Carry a small charge to cover event costs and make a small contribution to SCIO fvnds. If sufficient funds are available, the Trustees may also organise up to three events each year for which entrance charges do not cover event cost bul which benefit the Drimnin Community and increase the range of activitie5 available at the Hall. The number ané nature of these will be reviewed annually by the Trustees. The Treasurer will produce a projection of the accounts for the current year In time for the AGM.
