## Activities

**Purposes:** 'the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended','the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage'

**What the charity does:** Our organisation exists for the purpose of providing support services to the Deaf community of Ayrshire and surrounding areas. We started out in early 2019 as a youth club for Deaf teens, but soon expanded our services to include a youth club for younger children, lunches for pensioners, football for Deaf teens, monthly Deaf adults social events, BSL tuition for children and adults, “voice off” sessions to promote the use of BSL, and support with access to services which are often problematic for Deaf people, such as support towards employment, education, medical appointments, benefit applications, etc

**Objectives:** The organisation's purposes are: empowering of Deaf people to communicate with the rest of society, thereby lessening their isolation. empowering of Deaf people to cope with everyday situations that hearing people find easier to accomplish. empowering of Deaf people to undertake and maintain employment, educational and training opportunities. to support Deaf people with regard to any and all transition phases which are experienced throughout life. to support parents, carers, wider families and supporters of Deaf people. to encourage the development of supportive and caring friendships amongst the Deaf and Deaf-supporting communities. to provide a variety of activities suitable for Deaf people and their supporters, in order to help ADC achieve the above objectives.
