Athievements and Perf(miance
ThrOug1￿Ut this period the aub has noted a significant I￿￿aSe in membership, eS￿lalIY in the younger (J￿10r) age
groups fr(Th 7- 16 years dd. The senior8r￿p {16 years upwards) has also been joined by a number of newfaces,
brought about by our continued ongoing invdverrent in ccmmunity activities. particularly with Lochaber High SclN)ol PE
Department Health and Wellbeing projects, in addition to those have recently moved into the area and other5 living
in the area temporarily for work reasons.
These increases in numbers have in themselves brought challenges which we are meeting by introducin8 new coaches by
securing places on official Boxin8 kotland courses for them and limiting the 74 years old age 8rthJp to a special slot on
one evenin8 per week
On the sportin8 front, the Club and its membership continues to excel, with one young man joinin8 the Boxin8 Scotland
Elite Siwad, vthich means that he spends 3 days each week liwn8 in GlasBtrw and training in the Boxing Scotland Hl8h
Performancecentre with Scotland Squad Coac￿5.
Other members have also had great success in bouts both wlth other Clubs and at Scottish champ1(￿$11p levd, further
cementing our Club's reputstion for producing well trained, award winning athletes across a wide range of age and
weight categories.
In tPE summer of 2024 the Club was recodnised as Vduntary Organisation of the Year in the Voluntary ktion Lochaber
IVALI VOSCAR awards. A few Months later we also received The Highland Third sect￿ J￿IgeS Choce award, which was a
8￿at honour for us given its scope and geographical spread of K*luntary organisations frcyn Wick in Caithness right
to Lochaber.
Finance continues to be ￿ issue and a challenge, with a high rent of £950 (normal f￿ this areal to find every rnc￿th plus
other runnin8 Costs. We still keep training fees as tow as possible for members of all ages and with a view to personal
circumstances and individual family finances and total inclusion. make no charge for ansr)ne taking part in competitions.
Of course. due to our tocaticffi. we almost alw￿$ have to travel long distances and also sometimes overnight stays. which
can be very costly. Unfortunately we are unable to financially assist c￿r Elite Squad member with accommodation or
livin8 expenses in Glas8ow, alththjgh we w0￿d love to do this.
We have also recently be8un to work with The Highland Council, holdin8 sessions for them with youn8 people who face
difficulties and challenges in life. We ae delighted to be part of this and to be able to help them to successfully approach
and conquer whatever problems they be facin8.
Throwgh activities such as these, Lochaber Phoenix BoxinB Club contlnues to grow as a reco8nised 'force f(K good, in the
I￿ al community by creatirkg the opportunity for wun8 people to stay out of trouble bygiving them positive focus,
Ilscipllne and self-control.
We are considerably more than a sports club, but also a real Ilfeline for many peopl
