## Activities

**Activities:** 'It carries out activities or services itself'

**Purposes:** 'the advancement of education','the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science'

**What the charity does:** Raise funds for, create and run a Gaelic Hub in Edinburgh. As yet we are at the planning stage. We have carried out a survey of people potentially interested in such a hub, asking what form they think it should take and what use they would make of it. The response has been very positive. As a means of both fund-raising and spreading awareness of our existence and purpose, we hold events, open to all, at which people can engage with a range of Gaelic interests, such as language lessons, literature, Gaelic board games and so on.. Hitherto we have been prioritising getting our legal and administrative structures right and ensuring we comply with all relevant requirements so that, when suitable premises have been identified, we will be equipped to pursue the same, whether on a lease or purchase basis.

**Objectives:** To create, operate and maintain, on a charitable and non-profit-making basis, a linguistic, cultural, educational and social centre for the benefit of the Gaelic community of Edinburgh and the Lothians and generally to promote, within that centre and elsewhere, the usage, learning, study and enjoyment of Gaelic.
