ALFORD CANCER MASSAGE CHARITY AGM

CHAIR REPORT for period from 1st April 2022- 31[st] of March 2023

Since Covid hit us in 2020 we have not been able to provide our massage service to cancer patients. We have not been allowed to practise from the district nurses NHS premises and have not been able to find other suitable premises.

If we are not working in conjunction with the nurses we will find it hard to offer our services as they told patients about us and encouraged them to give massage a try to help with relaxation and recovery. The nurses also organised our bookings and filled in our diary.

Last year after our AGM we were hopeful to continue after initially making the decision to close down the charity. How ever life has gotten in the way and we still have not been able to get back up and running the massage charity. So with regret we are closing down the charity and bank account this time.

Our current Bank Balance is £5448.69 and if everyone agrees we would like to donate our funds to Maggies House Aberdeen and The Anchor unit. Most of our previous patients have received treatment, support and advice from them. We would be happy to give them extra funds so they can continue their amazing work.

Danni has been in touch with them and they are extremely grateful to receive funds, she has emails with details of their accounts and will hand them to the bank so they can transfer the funds when Alison and herself are going across to sign the closing down paperwork.

So with regret our aims for this year are:

- End the charity

- Donate our funds

- Clear out NHS premises

- Close our bank account

We would like to thank all whom have supported us over the years and we feel honoured to have been allowed to meet, support and massage so many patients. We only practised for a short while but we know we have made a difference to many people .
